~How Josiah's Appointment Went~

Josiah After His Appointment
Valdosta, Georgia
December 4, 2017 2:28pm CST
Hey everyone, I hope you are doing well today. Things are good here. So, I said I would update about Josiah's appointment and that's what this will be about. They want to do another head scan to see if the shape is bad enough for the helmet. If it's not severe enough his insurance won't cover the helmet. The helmet will cost $2,000-$4,000 which we cannot afford, so if it's not covered he won't be getting it. They are concerned with his development in certain areas such as he's not crawling, walking, or eating solid foods (he has a bad gag reflex). The doctor today said physical therapy will help with those things. He is a big boy, laziness as babies runs in the family at his age and his brothers were behind at this age as well. I think he will be fine. He's a smart little one and he will be walking before we know it, I am sure! Anyway, no helmet today. We will be getting the appointment set up in a week for the next head scan. We shall see what happens from here... The picture is of Josiah today. =)

God lord.. with insurance prices of inflation over actual value compared to other countries costs.. if it were made of gold, that would be a billion dollar cost! insurances cost like 100x for a band-aid compared to a store band aid.

Babies will do what they want and how they want. I walked when I was just over 11 months old and talked soon but that does not mean anything. My brothers were a tad lazy in doing all that. We are all different and just wait he will soon be doing all those things that we all want him to do. They could have told you the price of a helmet before too I would think. Very expensive also maybe they just might cover it with the insurance.

Oh goodness! Thats a heck of a lot for a helmet! Hope if he does really need it that the insurance will cover it so you can get it. Hope physical therapy helps him. But he's a baby.. I wouldn't really stress over the crawling, and certainly not walking. My cousins baby is same age is doesnt walk yet. Neither does my other cousins baby thats same age. Babys do things as they want.. as you know.

@Courtlynn Yeah I'm not worried at all about his progress. I have lazy babies, especially the boys. Lol. I was lazy as a baby too. The only concern I have is his gag reflex, he can't eat solid foods because of it.

He is such a cutie!!! How old is he? I really hope the next visit offers good news! If he needs that helmet, the insurance should so cover it. I don't understand why any person/company is okay with kids/people not getting care if they need it!

@snowy22315 It runs in the family to be lazy. I didn't walk until I was 19 months old, my oldest son was 18 months and Julian was a little over a year old. Julian never crawled either. He went from sitting to walking. I just have lazy babies. My only concern is his eating issues.

I think that mother knows best. We carry those babies, we spend more time with them then anyone else does, and even though doctors have diagnostic testing, we know the family patterns. If you say he'll be walking soon enough then I believe that he will. Our son is 28 and he didn't learn to crawl until he was several years old-but that was okay with us, we loved him just the same.

How awful to be deprived of the helmet due to lack of money. If he needs it, a way should be found. Even a kickstarter program might work for a cause like that.

Oh if it's kind of hereditary then surely it'll be okay and you need not worry. My niece walked so late than other kids....but it was all normal :) Hey he's supercute kid.!
