Choosing A Book Cover

I have been struggling to put together a book cover for my historical suspense romance book. It turns out that I have a picture in my mind and cannot find anything I like that measures out to it. So, I have decided to start with the background and work my way out, the way you do when you paint a picture. What you see in my picture here is the background. I want to add a little something to the foreground but have not yet decided what. I know it needs to be simple and uncluttered so I will keep mull it over in my mind. Who new it would be this difficult for me to make a decision.

I agree with @MALUSE, this scene does not trigger suspense in my mind. It's a peaceful scene.

That's why I have to add something to it. I could not find a suspenseful scene4 to fit what was in my mind.

It does sound like a difficult process to add to a picture. You might just be able to do that with the program I told you about.

Since I do not really know you very much I cannot say whether I knew if it was hard for you to make a decision or not. I can say when something is very important to us we want it just right.

True. Besides I am sort of a perfectionist.

@HazySue I believe you have to be to do it just right and get exactly or very close to what you had in mind. It is important. You want people to buy your book.

I hope so. The picture itself does tie into some of the happenings in the book.

I think this is a good start. What about a misty/ghostly-type figure disappearing at the end of the path? Good luck with it.

Well, some do judge a book by its cover.

Oh cool, I didn't know you were an author too. Good luck, I know how hard it is to see something in your mind's eye and then it doesn't come out on paper

For some reason it seems close to impossible, I am going to keep on trying though.
