Something Different!

Usually I'm telling you about my quilts, but today I changed gears.
Yesterday my daughter was telling me that the store had no clothes left for the American Girl dolls. She was planning to do a run to all the other Walmarts within a reasonable distance to search for an outfit for her daughters doll.
I told her not to bother....grandma would make an outfit.
This morning I hauled out the bits and pieces of tshirt leftover from making my grandson a tshirt quilt this fall. Then some cutting, measuring, adjusting and sewing.
This was the happy result.
Maybe I should take orders.

I purchased a knock off American girl doll at a discount store so I could get the size right. Almost each pattern needs a bit of tweaking.

@Morleyhunt ahh okay same as with my daughters. They have tons of clothes from other brands that fit them without spending a fortune on the real ones!

This isn't a "real" American girl doll. It's a knockoff I purchased at a discount store. My granddaughter have the Walmart version...

That was the goal. I purchased a knockoff American Girl doll so I could fine tune the fit.

That is my goal. I didn't want the loving hand made at home look that sometimes results from ill fitting and poorly made doll clothing.

It's really pretty! So nice of you to offer to sew the doll's outfit, I'm sure your granddaughter would be delighted to see that.

Those were some of the colours available to me. They are made with the leftover tshirt fabric from when I made my grandson a tshirt quilt this summer.

I have been sewing something for about forty five years....doll clothes were made 30 years ago. Now I'm doing it again.

Thank you. The goal was a well fitting outfit that was also fashionable. Wait to see what else I can create this week.

I haven't tackled shoes yet....I needed some craft foam (none in my craft supplies) but wasn't heading to the store. Hopefully in the next weeks I try out some shoes as well.

@Morleyhunt that would be interesting to see. i mean, they're so tiny it's probably challenging to make them.

They were colours I had. I also have a blue grey and some white tshirt remnants. I need to get back to my sewing machine.

Thanks. I'm having a blast....too bad my housework isn't as exciting...I'm having trouble getting to the vacuuming and as you can imagine..the threads and snippets of fabric are spreading throughout the house,

It's a lot more fun to make than Barbie clothes....and I have a entire bag of tshirt backs and sleeves to work my way through.

@YrNemo Barbies are probably the most fashion conscious dolls I have ever encountered. They change their clothes constantly. My granddaughter asked for an outfit for her American Girl doll for Christmas. I'm trying to oblige.

@Morleyhunt Some youngsters here often asked me to make dolls' clothes for them. I am not keen, but doing my best. I am glad to say that the American dolls here all seem to be content with the clothes they are wearing. The Barbies however, like to change clothes to my deep unhappiness.

Nice job! My daughter never had a real American girl doll instead I bought her ones that looked similar and weren't very expensive AND had lots of inexpensive cute accessories you could buy for them.
