What did you have for dinner tonight?

My young neighbor friend was visiting me this evening. But that didn't stop me from achieving my goal. I had been grazing for days, due to being busy, so tonight I had steak, mashed potatoes, and hearts of palm smothered with blue cheese dressing for dinner. I offered some to my friend and his mom, but she had other dinner plans for the two of them. Buwaahaahaa, more for me. My beverages of choice were Gatorade and a couple of shots of Scotch (not mixed). My friend practiced long-jumping while I cooked the steak on the grill outside.

I had sweet peas and a large mixed salad and for dessert I had the best ever, a whole Hersey`s chocolate bar. Virgin diet coke as a drink. I have never tried heearts of palm, how do you cook those? are they fresh or canned?

They're canned, and they're great (sliced) in any salad! My young friend and I ate some dark chocolate with milk earlier in the afternoon.

What is virgin Diet Coke? If someone has already consumed part of a Coke, I don't want to drink what's left.

@Hatley Hearts of palm can be served as a substitute for artichoke hearts. They may be a bit more expensive, but I think they're better.

Is that a photo of a steak being marinated or is that what Americans called cooked rare?

That would be called "still mooing." It's being marinaded in Worcestershire Sauce and fresh garlic.

@TheHorse "mooing" what a humorous way to describe the marinating process. How do you like your steak done? If I was marinating pork, would that be still oinking?

It was very satisfying. But I still have room for the smoothie I'm drinking now.

Like Andria, I've never eaten hearts of palm. Another thing to try one day.

Do they have them in Australia? They're something of a delicacy, but really worth it.

@TheHorse Here in Hyderabad, the market will be full of fresh vegetables in the evening. I prefer some Carrots, Beats, Cabbage, some lentils.

We bought too much smoked salmon, so we had avocado and smoked salmon seasoned with a dill sauce. It was good.

Your dinner sounds wonderful. That porterhouse looks gorgeous. I’ve been sick in bed (and the bathroom) with a stomach virus all day so my dinner was a bit of chicken noodle soup from WaWa.

I had sushi... Probably doesn't sound as good as steak for many, but I had a very satisfying dinner... And some green tea as my beverage...
