Another Christmas party then my daughters going on a long trip

In just a few minutes I am leaving to go to my father in laws. He usually has us down on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts but for some reason it was different this year. I didn’t feel up to making cookies knowing I will eat half of them so I am just taking a bottle of soda to share. My parents were taking my niece and nephew to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. My nephew didn’t want to go so I said they should take my daughter instead. Then my nephew decided he wanted to go if my daughter is going! So now all 5 of them are setting out on a 16 hour trip within the next 12 hours. I am not sure the exact time they are leaving either 2am or 6am. It is a 16 hour drive and I am a nervous wreck. My parents have never taken her anywhere before when I wasn’t there too. They are only going to be gone about 4 days but I miss her already and she isn’t even gone yet. I hope she has fun. The photo I edited from a photo of one of my Christmas decorations.

How old is your daughter? That is a very long trip but hopefully they'll have a lot of fun. Your parents might be ready for a holiday when they get back.

My daughter like me has never ridden more then 6 hours. This will be a lot for her. Personally I couldn't stand it in one day I'd have to stay overnight half way there. My daughter is 13 and so is my niece. My nephew will be 15 in a few weeks.

@JudyEv My niece and nephew slept the first 5 hours but my daughter stayed awake bored and reading. I expected that as she’s an early riser and they are not.

@shaggin Hopefully they'll play games in the car to help pass the time. With luck they might also sleep some of it.

That is what I am hoping for as well. She has her new ipod with her so if she gets wifi once they reach the hotel she can message me. I will be relieved when my mother texts me that they have made it there.

She let me give her a hug when I dropped her off which she almost never lets me do. I dropped her off at my parents house about an hour ago. She is spending the night and they are leaving about 5:30am. My stomachs sick with nerves so I better call it quits for the night at mylot and go to bed.

She is with my parents. The one with cancer is my father in law. My father has had a few major strokes and mini strokes over the years so yes it is great she is getting to spend with him just in case. They arrived there at 8pm last night and went swimming. My father send me some photos about an hour ago if their view from the hotel room. He said all 4 days they are there they get a huge free captains breakfast!

I did share two photos she sent me but since she posted the rest on Instagram I did not want to use the here. She had a great time though and I was so happy she got to experience this.

A 16 hours drive is surely painful. I only had 16 hours flight, the longest time in a car was a 8 hours trip from New Mexico to south of Texas.

6 hours was my longest time spent in a car. I cannot stand sitting in one spot so long. I wonder just how much I will hear about that awful long drive when she gets home

@shaggin At least when you are in a car you can stop time by time, get out and have a short walk. In a plane it's a real torture.

They are only planning to stop seldomly along the way for potty breaks and food. I think its to long in a vehicle. I would have to break that drive up overnight half way if I did it.

My niece and nephew have gone so many places with them so they have lots of memories with my parents but my kids do not. Hopefully after this they will take her more often so she can have more experiences as well.

When we looked on the weather app yesterday it was only 45 degrees there. Hopefully it warms up some while they are there. Would have been nicer to go in the summer when they could have enjoyed the beach.
