Two Days In!

The weather outside is frightful!
Inside it's nice and warm.
The princess has been underfoot so I've not been doing what I'd planned to do this week.
New Year's Day was spent....with family, watching the parade and then I retired to my sewing room.
The final clues were given for the mystery quilt I've been working on.
Yesterday I managed a few minutes of sewing....hoping for an hour or two today.
The goal (mine) is to have this quilt front assembled before the weekend.
In between I've managed to pack a few boxes for the BIG move.

I know. The countdown is on. I'm watching weather reports and hoping that I have a good couple of days that first full week in February....Sunday and Monday for sure.

It's not snowing...it's windy though so there is a lot of drifting snow,. Today I make the 45 minute trek to visit my father ....

@YrNemo he's actually not doing well at the moment. I may be heading out to see him again today. My sister plans to go, but the weather forecast is not nice and I'm closer...so if she decides to forgo the travel...i will be the one making the trip.

@Morleyhunt I think that you're a very brave lady to undertake such a huge move and to strike out on your own for 7 weeks where you don't know anyone. I could not do that, I'm not independent enough, I rely quite a bit on my husband.

@Juliaacv I've learned over time that I'm a lot stronger than I think I am....that I can do things I've not attempted before. I'm a bit of an introvert so this could be an interesting experience. I've told myself I need to get out and meet the community....so far the community has been welcoming and we've only spent a week there.

I'm liking the quilt but for someone who likes scrappy I'm finding this one a little bit busy. I'm sure as the pieces come together and I can step back I will love it.
I've moved often enough to know how important labelling is. The stuff I'm taking in February won't be as extensively labelled. It will all be unpacked within an hour or two of arriving (things I need to live comfortably? for seven weeks.

@Morleyhunt I am so busy taking care of all the formalities to start my Mom succession. I hate to have this to do.

I finished the assembly Saturday morning. Photos were taken and shared. Now I'm trying to finish the quilting on another quilt this week.

You are an artist with fabric, I have been painting and will continue as long as this cold weather sticks around. A Big Move? I think I missed something so will look right now.

I am heading to our new home the beginning of February. It is 1700 km away. I am driving out with my daughter and then flying her back home.

You are a dab hand with sewing! The one in the picture above is a superb piece of craftsmanship. What does "The princess has been underfoot" refer to ?

The princess is my five year old granddaughter. She is underfoot this week. Her daycare is closed due to an emergency so grandma is babysitting. This high energy child makes sure that I don't sit around and get things done...she like me to be involved with everything she does.

@Morleyhunt Thank you for clearing it up! It is a rough task to take care of a little kid. They would make a mess of your room,if you let them out of your sight.

I do like your quilt especially that it's a bit different. Hope you found time to relax and sew for a bit.
Moving day will be here quickly and I admire your ability to move and be alone for awhile.

I'm taking my sewing with me. I'll be to busy to feel lonely. I've also discovered over time...I don't mind my own company.

I'm looking forward to having the move behind us. The next few months will be a bit trying. In four weeks I should be half way to our new home with a load of my quilting things as well as a lot of my kitchen supplies. In the seven weeks there I hope to paint a few rooms.

It is a quilt which the design becomes more apparent as more of it is assembled.
