Reading the news this morning I learnt that today is called "Blue Monday". It was the first time I read about this, so I asked Google to know more. Blue Monday is usually the 3rd Monday of the year and it's claimed to be the "most depressing day of the year". Some years the day was the 2nd or 4th Monday of the year. It is calculated using a formula that takes into account several different factors. (Among others, lack of money during this specific time of the year, bad weather, debt level and so on). If you want to know more just search Wikipedia for "Blue Monday". How is your "Blue Monday", depressing or only a normal Monday? Mine is not different that the past Mondays.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This article is about a Monday in late January. For other uses, see Blue Monday. Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) claimed to be the m

This morning it's all over the radio. I heard about this term a long time ago.

I never heard before today, I think that it was a North American thing that now is spreading to the old continent because we are getting the same habits. Buy things if you have no money so you are full of debts.

I don't know if I'm suffering from Blue Monday today but I am feeling very lazy and tired. I thought it was mostly due to the gray skies and dreary weather but maybe I have a touch of the "blues"?

I am also lazy and tired today. It's dark, it's humid and cold and I lack energy to do anything.

I know of the Monday Blues, but didn't know there was a specific Blue Monday Day (I guess it's not marked on the calendar ). Today for us it happens to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day - and the kids have a day off of school (Hubby still has to work). The week has been off as it is (last Wednesday we were in a car accident - we are ok but having to deal with some inconveniences - I have not written about it), so yes, today is a bit blue!

@LadyDuck It's a long story, but my car is in the shop . . . the accident was completely the other person's fault. Insurance is taking care of it - but I am hoping all is settled with the other person's insurance company - it's a waiting game for the moment. I'm having to drive a rental - I just want my car back. Not sure if I'm blue - or red .

I knew that Martin Luther King Jr. Day is in January I had forgot which Monday. I am sorry about your car accident, I hope you did not suffer major damages and they you will be refunded by the insurance.

I've never heard the term. If many people feel depressed on this day, it may be a phenomenon of mass hysteria.

I have read the piece of news in the "Corriere della Sera", I was surprised, because I never heard of somethig like this. It seems it has been calculated since 2005.

My day is good so far but I haven't been outside except to pick the paper off the drive, I can see why its called blue Monday, the weather is driving most people in the north Americas crazy.

@LadyDuck that could be true too. We know better, we were broke when young but now we don't spend it unless it available and we won't miss it.

This is a new term for me as well. Personally I would expect the first Monday back at work to qualify for the title.

I never dress in blue, it's a color that makes my face look older and stressed. Yesterday was not a great day, but I always dress in light pastel colors.
