"You are just an undercover racist"

I love how some people try to play the 'racist' card when someone disagrees with them.
Race may have nothing at all to do with it...but some people will still use that for an argument.
Like not liking Michael Jackson.
Since Michael is black, some people will throw the 'racist' card out for why someone else doesn't like him.
Nope.
*I* don't like the fact that - believe it or not - he was NOT 'found innocent' for all the times he was accused of being a pedophile.
In fact, the first time, Michael paid out 23 million dollars in financial compensation to avoid it going to court.
So he was never found innocent (or guilty) of those charges.
But since he is the alleged 'King of Pop' many people choose to believe he must have been innocent.
Myself? I don't buy it. 23 million is a LOT of money.
And if I was innocent, I am going to go to court.
Been there, done that.
To 'put the icing on the cake' so to speak, that financial agreement also included the clause that the parties would not further discuss this case in public.
From my own point of view, that doesn't sound much like 'innocence' to me.
Doesn't have a single damn thing to do with whether he is black or white...or a cheeto.
But go ahead...throw that 'racism' card.
To me, that shows who the real racist is.

You are right. The race card is arbitrarily thrown out there that its meaning is being lost.

Of course, we all know it does exist (unfortunately) but too many people try to use it for anything that disagrees with them from someone of a different race.

I'm afraid you're going to have to get used to it. This is the world in which we are now living.
In the UK we have one particular politician who has proven to be particularly inept time and time again. Any valid criticism of her abilities is shouted down by the virtue-signalling snowflakes as being racist.

@josie_ It is indeed but unfortunately, certainly in the UK, that is increasingly becoming the first resort!!
And as nobody wants to be labelled racist, sexist or whatever other 'ist' you care to name then they tend to just say nothing. It really has stifled debate on a number of quite pressing political issues in the UK.

I don't understand bro. I am dark..fairly..cookie brown. Ok Ok..burnt cookie brown. But I don't ever ever feel like using racist card. I am comfortable in my skin and don't mind people calling me dark, old, whatever. What it is is as it is. Beyond that I am me, and that me is different and unique because this is the me with whom people interact. Their white skin is not interacting with me. It is like two inert gases. But the me that interacts shares views, accepts theirs, makes them accept mine. Why must I be not me, but just a caricature of color. Beats me. Sometimes, people are beyond my comprehension.

@Shiva49 I don't think we can avoid noticing physical attributes. Eyes are the first to do their job. But after that, other senses need to take over. We are not doing nature watching to be lost in differences between our skin. Yes, it is not a religious thing to be lost in physical attributes of a person, ignoring other aspects which also originate from god.

Racism is not just black/white. It could be black/Indian, white/Filipino, any combination. It is simply a result of inferior minds.

I've had the racist card thrown at me....I was told...you don't like me because I'm ______. My response....I don't like you because you are an idiot....and I don't tolerate that much stupidity from anyone....nope...not particularly delicate....but blunt and to the point.

Money talks and holds a lot of power, J.J. I don't have very much money, thus in the court room, I'd have to take my medicine and probably land my butt in prison for a while. I went and visited the grave of Nicole Simpson, while visiting my daughter in California years back. She was murdered by her husband, yet it couldn't be proven. Then, O.J. landed his butt in prison, for other crimes he committed! Am I a racist, because I believe he bought himself out of life behind bars? Color isn't the issue at hand, others like Ted Bundy(white) were equally guilty! Crime is crime and it's not measured by what nationality we originate from. My grandpa was German, so was he a part of the Holocaust that murdered thousands of Jews? People constantly try to put a label on things, when we have no answer!

As long as you have not been called a Nazi the Godwin point has not been reached
.
To speak seriously I consider immoral any financial transaction on a criminal case, and I am glad that they are forbidden in my country for criminal cases. For sure innocent people go to court and do not pay.

@JolietJake Here any public attorney could have said that such an agreement was contrary to public order and morality, and could have sued Michael Jackson without considering this agreement.

Technically, they are forbidden here too, but the agreement was worded to get around the laws forbidding it.

I don't think people even know what "racist" means when they throw that term around. Not liking Michael Jackson does not make you racist. I don't like him either, for the same reason you stated. Same reason why I won't watch Woody Allen movies.

@JolietJake You can dislike a person who is a different color than you based on their character (or heck, even because you -- gasp! just don't like their music.) It doesn't make you a racist. I mean, I don't like Kanye West...it has nothing to do with him being black, and everything to do with his obnoxious personality.

I hate to say how many times I saw people try to use it when someone didn't like Obama...it just gets ridiculous when they don't know anything at all about me (or someone else) and try to use it as a 'trump' card, so to speak.

I went to a private school my last 2 years of High School and we had kids from other countries come learn with us. Many times when the teacher would get onto them for something-they would say you just don't like me because I'm black. The teachers would respond with I don't like your behavior because you do not listen-nothing to do with your race.
It used to annoy the rest of us so much because we knew that was not the case at all.
