Kids going out without me

Kids getting ready to go out

My husband's university alumni is organizing a sports competition in these two days. My two elder kids have just followed him to go to the Taiwan International school that holds the competition, they said they want to help out too. As it's only 6am, I don't want my baby to spend so much time outside and get tired, I plan to go there with my baby at noon. So, the two elder kids won't be around me for more than 6 hours. They looked very excited as this is the first time two of them following their dad to "work". Though I am also happy for them, I feel uneasy as this is also the first time they have been without me for so long. I am sure my baby will keep looking for the elder brother and sister when he gets up too. It's time for me to learn and accept my kids are growing up. Hope they will enjoy themselves there, and be able to take care of themselves without disturbing the dad.

I hope they will, but I am not sure if they will be bored as it's not kids' activities, but adults'.

@infatuatedbby Yes, that might be good too. At first, actually we allowed our eldest to follow only, as he is older and he is more independent. My little girl actually likes to stick to me almost all the time, and seldom follow others, but lately she always follows her elder brother even though without me. Though we were not so confident to let her follow, she got up early together with the brother, so my husband decided to bring her along too. It might be good as they have each other, so my eldest wouldn't be bored. They like to follow each other, but they also always fight when they are together. I guess siblings always do this, play or fight always.

Aww I understand that feeling. Is it good for them but hard for us as mothers.

Yes, it's always a challenge to me. I always want to do something that is good for them, but not so good for us. But as moms, we always choose what is good for the kids, don't we?

@kaka135 yep and that’s how it should be putting our kids needs first.

@shaggin Yes, I agree with you. I also always explain to my kids, put the needs first, but not wants.

At least, they are starting to embrace a more mature role outside of home.

Yes, I really like them to do that too. I think it's good for them to learn and help out. We did follow my husband to help out sometimes, but this is the first time they went without me. This might be good for them too, being without mom sounds good.

It's kind of hard isn't it. I think we all go through this. Moms.

Yes, it's hard, and as you said, we have to go through this. Imagine when they are 17 or 18, and they are leaving home. I can't even imagine that!

I'm sure they will be just fine and will enjoy themselves ! Plus it will be good for dad to spend time with them like that - they will all be in good hands with each other. My goodness, they are getting so big! Hope you and the baby enjoy the time there later too!!

I suppose you will have to get used to your kids being on their own sooner or later.

I'm sure you are quite worried. You will get used to it as they grow up. Hope they have a nice time

They need to stay out of your house more and more to learn to communicate with the others. Very nice photo.

I hope they have a good time. It is hard sometimes for mothers to entrust their children to anyone else, even their fathers.

They look very happy, and I know how hard it is to accept that they're growing up.
