Shared Journey

We are in the best of times, worst of times. Many before us had great stories that died along with them but we have an avenue to share thanks to social media. We are unique and also creative, so why keep things bottled up? When I was growing up I had limited access to knowledge, certainly not what it is like today! I hardly knew what the world looked like except for reading about it much later. My imagination ran wild about lifestyle and people in other places. Step by step I moved on and with effort and luck saw quite a bit of what the world is like. Though people look different, we are so much alike in terms of aspirations, hopes and fear. Fairy tales end when we go to school and meet the big bad wolves on the prowl! Of course, the good ones make it all worth our lives and they are in the majority everywhere. Life could have been much worse but I managed to keep my head above water even in trying times. I completed a working career in different countries and feel enriched by the experience. I have been sharing my thoughts and interacting actively for eight years and have friends across the world, some I can never forget. They embraced me for who I am. It was not money that brought us together but more of enjoying the camaraderie. At one site I was not eligible for payments but I soldiered on to greet others every day. I have been sharing my life story in patches and that gives me so much of fulfillment. My life has not been in vain, just lived within a closed circle, but out in the open and, hopefully, some have been positively touched. I am sure you have also something to share from our shared journey. Image: Shared Journey from Pixabay

I married a Spanish Man and came in for a lot of stick because of it and yet I would not change it for one minute of any of what I have lived with him. I worked with him for a long time as well but that is another story. Glad your story is a nice one and I love that image there and I am not sure if its all of you there together or what?

@Shiva49 Nice image though. I would have liked to have made lemonade with the lemons also but they never gave us a chance on either side of the family at that time. So we went off to be on our own and make our own way out of problems.

Thanks for sharing. When life gives us lemons, make lemonades is my approach. I can only do my best with good intentions and then accept what is in store in good grace. The image is sourced from Puxabay and it reflects my outlook - Siva

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, life can be a lonesome journey at times but good people are everywhere too. When those we rely on desert us others step in; when one door closes many open - siva

Would you really like to be a fly on the wall of somebody elses house at times, or not?
"The good times of today, are the sad thoughts of tomorrow." Bob Marley, Jamaican musician, (1945 to 1981). I wonder what he meant by that. All such meaningful quotes, I think, share something to us of the writer's own journey. Love lives on in both sad and happy times, and the good times are both of these because there are no bad times but only good times, when love is seen to be behind all things, and all things are a part of that same love. Good times are sad times sometimes too, and these sad times are not bad times. The sad thoughts about yesterday, and our past, are often thought as bad because we are not seeing the love sufficiently in them. We should have no regrets and allow everything to grow us forwards, from the love in them. Now I am more looking in the past than the future; maybe, I feel my future lies in my past! I try to find meaning in the present from my past experiences. I cannot change who I was though I can adapt to circumstances than stand in the way. I have no sad thoughts of what had happened as I learned more from tough times.Yes, it needs tough love to drive home some lessons. Maybe, I like to be a fly on the wall of some great people but then just being a fly may not serve the purpose! siva

@Shiva49 The present is always the present though, so we do need to live our lives where we find ourselves right now I expect too, not over-dwelling on either the past, or the future. This is how the American author, Walker Percy, described this in his fictional book, "Lancelot." "To live in the past and future is easy. To live in the present is like threading a needle."

@innertalks That is a very meaningful quote. Dwelling in the past or the future is escapism from the present reality - siva

Thanks for sharing you story .. I am like you you have shared my life story with online "friends" I've never met ( a few I have met ) .. I guess I was trying to find deeper meaning in life through sharing my story .. My life experiences that I thought were unique .. but found that there are so many people in the world who have experienced the things ... I grew up in a desperately poor dysfunctional family.... And all my life, I worked hard to escape it ...and I succeeded ..

@Shiva49 Traveling far and wide brings us wisdom as it did to you obviously... And the hard work you did is now obviously paying off... I always say that the harder we work, the easier life becomes...

Happy that you overcame the odds. Never give up on hope and life. I believe our creator is in his creations; that is everywhere. Gandhi said: “There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.” When things are down in the dumps a stranger comes out of the blue to give a break - who sends him to me? I worked hard and saved every year of my forty plus working years. I did travel too with family to few countries. Nothing did come easy and I get fulfillment in the little pleasures that come my way. - siva

I always enjoy reading your extremely well written and thought provoking discussions. I've led a very nice life and met so many wonderful people here and in person. A large portion of my life was dedicated to working with special needs students and their parents. It was fulfilling and rewarding. To this day, I keep in touch with so many. We created a special bond. However, my joy comes through my family. We are close knit. I'm so very proud of each an every one.
