Are you online to 'work' or to pass time?

Or are you working to pass time? I admit...sometimes it is a bit of work to find something to do. But I am not coming online to 'work' as such, I'm just killing some time. Well, maybe killing lots of time. In fact, I've killed time and screwed society so much I keep waiting to get arrested for rape and murder. But that's a different tale for a different time. Are you here for fun, or is it a 'job'?

I have always thought that, in order to PASS time, you'd have to go faster than it and I don't think that's possible unless you can travel faster than the speed of light Time passes, anyway, without any help from us! As for 'work' ... well, no. I gave that up when I retired about 12 years ago. I have kept myself occupied since (yes, I believe that I still live in this body, though I may not always answer the door) and sometimes people have even paid me for doing things for them. I'm online mostly because there are eejuts like you who say challenging and outrageous things which I have to respond to and because I want things like a new fridge and a non-dairy recipe for Cream of Mushroom Soup because somebody gave me a box full of bullshit and mushroom spores which have now burgeoned and produced a huge number of mushrooms!

Time moves fairly slow over here, it hardly reaches the speed limit some days. Why, the other day I found I had passed time by 45 minutes so I replaced the battery in the clock.

It is a site designed for entertainment. The earnings could be a welcome extra income for those living in poor economic countries, but for British or American the earrings are fairly insignificant.

I'm sure in some of the poorer countries that $5 could be a considerable amount.

For fun! I got in the habit to keep a daily journal online to plan days and live more positively! It helps me. The fact I can share it and get a little change is just a bonus. Kind of like my choice to use bing. If I'm gonna look up things online its a bonus to make a little extra. :)

Kind of a shame that myLot got rid of their online search bar years ago. There used to be a feature here that would randomly pay a few cents to your account (sometime several cents) if you used it to search the web.

@Daelii When the site changed to a non-paying site in 2013 they redesigned everything and it didn't make any sense to keep it.

I've never had an online 'job'. I don't accept less than minimum wage, so I can't imagine anything I do online being a job.

Online I do not work but yes I do; I pass time with learning, and yes I make money. So I "Use" time for right cause. Now there is no Award from any current government for best use of time.

Exactly. People seem to have a problem understanding it is only an incentive to be here and for most people can't really be a 'reason' or they won't last.

@JolietJake Yes, it is a compensation of what I am already enjoy doing. When I FB, I don't get the same incentive MyLot is giving. Plus the fun, yes, FB is fun because of videos. But I can YT while MyLotting.

I’m here for fun and to kill time. I have a real job. People that try to make “big money” on the internet these days make me laugh. It was possible like 10 years ago. Today? Not so much.

The earnings are nice and an incentive. There are entertainment and information attributes here. If this was solely a job or about making money, one is spending time in the wrong place.

@JolietJake there are places that if you dedicate to do things you can earn something. I`m in the beginning and not the right person to say that you can have a nice payment over freelancing, but around me there are some people that get paid very well for working 2-3 hours/day

@irishidid I know I definitely can't classify myself as one. I may have a gift of turning a phrase occasionally, but I just can't get into writing as such. I've dabbled a bit in pose and poetry, but nothing exceptional.
