Bad news this Groundhog Day

Six more weeks of snow You with the fat furry cheeks Say it isn't so That was a haiku I posted on HeliumNetwork.com a few years ago. My sentiments regarding winter haven't changed. I've been done with winter for about two months now. Alas, again this morning, here in good old Connecticut, USA, I awaken to more snow, more sub-freezing temps, with more of the same, or worse, continuing for days. To compound the situation, that infamous, cute but miserable, little weather predictor, Punxsutawney Phil, has predicted at least another six weeks of all this misery. Ugh. Groan. Image: Pixabay.com

We do not have Phil, but today is Candlemas and the superstition says that if it is a sunny day we have 40 more days of Winter. Well, it's sunny today.

I wonder if Punxsutawney Phil is right? He's been wrong before.

I hope he's wrong. The ground hog in my local area did predict an early spring, so I'm going with him!

I'm so sorry its still so cold up that way, down here it's dry and relatively warm in comparison. Then again I'm in the desert and usually the coldest of our temps is in the wee hours of the morning like around 5 or so.

You really shouldn't hold a rodent responsible for the six more weeks of winter. The calendar clearly lets us know that spring doesn't arrive until approximately March 21..... Springlike weather would be, oh so welcome....it's a frigid -11°C here today. 0°F
