one thing that can happen when streets are dug up

the teeth of the mini excavator scooping dirt accidentally hit two waterlines, which cut the water supply to our house and next door.
when they finally reattached the pipes, we noticed the water supply/water pressure was much weaker.
assuming it might be due to the start of heavy community usage (late afternoon when people came home from school or work), we decided to observe and wait until morning.
unfortunately, the next day, the water coming from the kitchen faucet was still weaker than usual.
so this was mentioned to the road crew.
the three of them pulled out and reattached the pipes three times.
same result.
it's bad enough dealing with the daily noise, rubble, traffic, and dust.
it was annoying that they were pointing to each other on who should fix it.
and no one has an answer what caused it, or how to restore the previous flow.

i notice an employee from the water company yesterday (or the other day) and he said he was fixing it/replacing something. when i turned on the water, it's still the same weaker flow, not like before. but i guess it's better than none at all, so i'll just leave it at that.

These happens all over places. We too had same incidents and roads were dig up and pipes were broken. Later when they repaired the same we got muddy water. I think the staff should coordinate with water authority to avoid such nuisance for public.

yes, the water was muddy at first when they were able to reconnect it and asked us to open the faucet then would become clear later on

And why they're digging the area where pipes are?

They have redone a major water pipe by the hospital here (the hospital is down the street from us). Thankfully the water end of it didn't affect us, but when the street was closed for construction, it was a huge inconvenience for the residents around here. At some point, they broke "something" and all this water came flowing down our street .. . it literally looked like a river! I hope they were able to fix it since then!!

Oh, that would be annoying. I hope they get the pressure back to what you're used to.

the DPWH should be aware of the pipes for water supply that might be possibly hit by the bulldozer. there are some diggings near a supermarket here, and we noticed that the big pipes for drainage are already placed properly, and the tubes for water supply are securely tied up. the pipes of the drainage should not touch the pipes for water supply.

It is really annoying to hear such noise from jackhammers or buckhoes while they are doing street diggings; very uncomfortable! And your water supply was affected too!
