Waking up with the inuit.

Good morning, friends. Today, as usual, as soon as I woke up, I turned on the TV to have another human sound while I was half asleep. The usual reruns were boring but I found out that there was Discovery at school in one of the channels and that there they were giving an awesome documentary about the inuit, the people who live near the North Pole. It was so interesting! And it reminded me of the book I read a long time ago (Top of the World by Hans Ruesch). Top of the world was also made into a very good film on those days and I saw it with my husband. Now, after I check some of my notifications and your posts, I will track down the book if I can find it online and then the movie. I remember that one of the actors was Anthony Quin. What do you know about the inuit? Are you interested in other cultures? For me, mylot is also about that. What do you think?

It sounds like it would be a wonderful book and movie. Anthony Quinn is a great actor.

I do not know a lot but I do know they are the ones who used sleds which were pulled by huskies, in fact, I believe they were probably the first to develop the husky or malamute to help them travel or haul supplies over the ice and snow.

Before the invention of eyeglasses, the Inuit used ivory from walruses to cover their eyes for protection.

We learnt about eskimoes at school but I don't know how accurate some of that information would have been

In these documentaries it is easy to be accurate. One of the speakers was a lady inuit that belonged to the inuit council

Yes I know about the Inuit, they have managed to retain many of their old ways while adapting to the modern world.
