stepdaughter's school went on lockdown

A few hours ago, my stepdaughter called her father in a panic -- some threatening graffiti had been found at the school and they went on lockdown.
She was safe; she was absent from school today, but understandably terrified. The graffiti, written in a bathroom stall in marker, stated, "I'm shooting the school tomorrow at 1". During the lockdown, police searched the campus for weapons. None were found, the lockdown was lifted a few hours later, and the students resumed their rally for gun control in solidarity with many other high school students across the country today.
Classes for tomorrow are canceled. I'm so glad she was home today. I'm still a bit shaken.

It's really scary right now. I'm hearing about several other incidents like this happening today too.

My God there are some hideous people about. I am watching a programme on the British terror attacks we had last year and it just reduces me to tears; the Manchester Bombing, the car that drove into crowds on Westminster Bridge, all those lives gone and families devastated. The shootings in your schools are so frightening .. we live in terrifying times.

@spiderdust Yes that's the latest and Salisbury is in Wiltshire the same county as I live in although it's not that close to us. The agent and his daughter are still in a critical condition. I'm afraid to visit any big cities these days. I hope your stepdaughter is ok .. she must be so frightened.

We really do. I've been watching on the news about what's taking place in your neck of the woods... that Russian agent who was poisoned?

I´m so glad she is fine. It is such a shame that schools are not safe places any longer.

@spiderdust I haven´t read much about the school protests in the US here.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was somehow related to the school protests around the country.

@marguicha Here's some more information about it. I generally trust this site to have accurate news with minimal bias.
Students across the country are walking out of school and holding a 17-minute moment of silence on the one-month anniversary of the Parkland school shooting in Florida. Follow here for the latest.

@spiderdust I hope it's only a prank, a very stupid prank.

I hope they find out who did it. I hope it's a prank, but there's been so many shootings at schools.

We had a couple schools go on lockdown a few days ago because of a guy barricaded in a house nearby.

@spiderdust - It actually happens quite a lot here, usually when the cops are after someone.

@teamfreak16 Yeah, we had that happen at my oldest daughter's school once when the police were looking for someone in the area. It was still pretty scary, even though we knew it wasn't happening on campus.

I know she would have been an absolute wreck if she had been at school today. Thank goodness everyone was all right.

@spiderdust How old is she? Im glad they are all okay too. The preschool where one of my managers granddaughters attends was on lock down a couple weeks ago because somebody called and said they were going to bomb it.

I know what you mean since some people blame the news media for reporting these school shootings a lot that can and will inspire copycats or someone who wants his or her "Fifteen minutes of fame."

That's not exactly what I mean. I think they *should* be reported.
