Do you consider yourself to be "well-adjusted"?

Most people consider me to be well-adjusted. I actually consider myself to be pretty well-adjusted, especially given some of the obstacles I had to overcome. But in my fantasy life, I can be a bit like Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes. I would never actually use a flamethrower on a texting driver. Nor do I want cows and chickens to stage a mass rebellion, and start devouring humans. But I've thought of such things. Do you consider yourself to be well-adjusted?

I like to think so but many find me maladjusted. I love Calvin And Hobbes - cruelly but brilliantly parodied here

@arthurchappell I'm going to have to use more Calvin and Hobbes funnies to inspire posts. I've really been enjoying (even prolonging) my morning Constitutional.

Amusing. But the comic strip itself is funnier!

@pgntwo I have a Calvin and Hobbes book in my WC. I'd forgotten how much social commentary was in the comic strip.

Well, a good sense of humor is a sign of at least some good adjustment.

Yes I do and so far I have coped with most of the major hurdles in my life and come out pretty unscathed. Doesn't mean it will always be like that. Maybe I haven't faced my biggest challenge yet. My sister and I believe that everyone is weird in their own way. I bet we all have one thing that we do that a lot of people would find strange. I know what mine is but I'm not saying

I consider myself well adjusted, although there are some who beg to differ. I have a sense of humour that occasionally gets me in hot water....I see humour in things others don't find remotely funny.

Can you give an example? My example would be DARK humor like Breaking Bad. My friend sometimes doesn't understand why I'm on the floor laughing.

@TheHorse my mom passed away several years ago....when we do something she wouldn't have approved of....we say....mom is getting her exercise.....spinning in her grave. That one is reasonably tame.

Well of course I do, I survived the 50s and 60s, got weird in the 70s then got real work in the 80s which lasted through 2010 and now I'm a very well adjusted senior. I'm even in my 3rd .... or is it 4th .... teenhood or is it young adult hood, I refuse to do childhood over cuz it weren't fun at all.

Hahaha. Nice question. On the outside I can appear decently well adjusted thanks to a lot of medication! Inside, not so much. I struggle with depression and mania, I hallucinate, I have anxiety attacks. All sorts of fun things. So no, I don’t really consider myself well adjusted.
