So, I Finally Declare My Enemy! Dust!

If anyone has been following some of my latest posts, they would know that I have been suffering from all sorts of health issues of late. A great shortness of breath and breathing difficulties being among them. It was set off by a number of factors, but I finally found the #1 cause: Dust.
There are a ton of factors involved, but that story would take hours to write, so I'll summarize: Watching a dog for two week, cleaning up and shifting boxes, having an insufficient vacuum cleaner, and unblocking a forced air vent that blew under a couch (until I blocked it again). All of that led to a lot of dust in the air.
While this wasn't helpful, I didn't feel anything until food allergies and an incident involving bleach and acid reflux irritated my throat and lungs. After that, it was straight into anxiety land. It was difficult being unable to breathe. I even prepared myself with the reality that I might not wake up when I fell asleep (anxiety heightens your perception of death).
So a massive cleaning effort yesterday and the night before using a different vacuum with an agitator, resulted in me pulling out five containers of dirt, dust, hair, pet dander, and carpet fibers. It made a neat mound in my yard. I was so persistent that I even targeted the floating dust in the air.
Now I'm happy to report that I can take deep breaths again, but I still have a lot of mucus in my lungs that prevents normal breathing. It's gone from dire to annoying. I'm okay with annoying! Knowing the cause helped diminish my anxiety as well.

Thanks. :) I was mainly joking about that. I thought the subtle humor had passed through, but a lot of people took it seriously.

@OneOfMany I also feel that I do not breath well when there is dust in the air.

@LadyDuck I doubt anyone truly does. It introduces something into our lungs that obstructs the airways.

That sounds like you'd be dust free before he'd have a problem. I do think that when I need to stand up these days, it will be to do dusting and the like.

I wore a facial respirator while vacuuming yesterday. It helped out while I was getting rid of the dust.
You've been cold-free for a long time!

Well, in the barn loft, exposure to hay dust made me violently cough for two weeks and I would spit out chunks of red mucus, so I do have some kind of physical reaction to it. In this case, it was minor irritation.

@YrNemo Yes, some is tiredness or paranoia. Anxiety (like I get) makes all kinds of illnesses real and fatal.

@OneOfMany I thought at first that I was faking the symptoms. (We humans are very good at playing mind tricks.)

An air filter would be nice. The 'purifiers' don't seem to amount to much.

I'm taking some antibiotics and decongestants to fight the infection (the mucus was yellow) and mucus build up. It has started to break up in my lungs and the color is clear.

That's why I always keep my nose hair well trimmed and tucked in lol! Seriously it's one of our first line of defense, similar to the air cleaner of our cars.
Glad you are alright now, you may want to consider buying an air cleaner or purifier, I had also seen a lot of DIYs on YouTube using ordinary fans.

I hate dusts under beds and tables, cleaning them is a pain.
I am saving a lot of money for this:
Rebecca Brand shows how to vacuum inside and out with the ILife Click: http://amzn.to/2Bou6sD I love this vacuum, it's amazing! Works so great, and such fun ...

Yes, it's not fun being unable to breathe correctly. I still haven't completely recovered, but I'm getting there. Right now, I'm still trying to get through convincing my body that its anxiety isn't necessary.

You mentioned pet dander. Could you be allergic to your pet?

It's not my dog, I was watching him for two weeks while my parents were out of the country. There are milk pet allergies in the family, but he was also going places I normal don't as much, and stirred up more dust than I would. :P
