Who can live without money?

There was a man who made his home in a large tree. When asked his reason for making his home there, he replied - "no bills to pay up here". Of course he will need funds for other necessities - so who can really live without money? It is said that the love of money is the root of all evil, - which may be true, but money is needed anyway. Would you marry a penniless man? Would you be here on Mylot if there wasn't some kind of payment - regardless how small?

I would not marry a penniless man or any man, even if he had lots of money!

@Kandae11 I would prefer a woman with some money as I don't want to share all the money I made on myLot.

Ha ha - I didn't mention or penniless woman, because that isn't such a big problem for women - especially in the past. However - these days many young couples usually plan their future around the expected income of both parties.

I know that they say that "love of money is the root of all evil", but we can do nothing without money. I would love to be able to live without money, but in our days it is no more possible.

If I was just a bit younger, I would carry out an experiment to see if I I could do it. Well for one month at least.

I am not sure if such a person can be on myLot or not ...butb in Indis it is very easy to live with dignity if you render your services to any religious places like temples, Mosques or Gurudwara in return you will be blessed with a place to live and a nice food to enjoy without any money to you! May be today with the amended rules one can get some money too! Thanks dear @Kandae11!

I am poor and potential partners don't throw themselves my way. I expect that would change if I became rich but it would be the money they would want rather than me @Kandae11

Money is definitely need for everyone to survive ,it's must.. Some do give lot of importance to it ,it's most priority to them..do they carry the money when they die?.frankly speaking I will come to Mylot if it's doesn't pay also.they are better paying websites too..but I really love the interaction and friends here.

I would come, but probably not as often. I love the interaction yes, but what I get paid can help contribute to the payment of my internet bill, or the power bill - all of which I use to be here.

How does he think he's going to eat without money, from trash cans? Everyone needs some money to get by in life. The money is the attraction to start with but it is fun here too. I might post if they didn't pay but certainly not as much. Would I marry a penniless man? Absolutely not as I would have to keep him

@Kandae11 I can't see myself falling for someone like that. I'm not a gold digger but I prefer a man to have some money, he doesn't need to be rich but he needs to be comfortable.

I was about to ask you the question - what if you are madly in love with the penniless guy and he has ambition ? but then - if he had ambition would he be penniless? It won't be easy falling in love with a guy who has no money and no ambition.

Money is the currency we use today to get what we want. In olden times we would barter and people are doing that today but since you can't barter for everything, money is needed. How much you need is the real issue. The man in the treehouse would be able to live on a lot less than one in an apartment or house.

@Freelanzer Taxes and bills seem the only things you can't pay with anything but money. If the man has no expenses for living in a treehouse, definitely. Then you need to rely on renewable energy, water is found in nature, internet is "borrowed" by neighbors... it's probably possible to live without money, but you need an investment before doing so, and that investment requires money.

@sabtraversa We are back to money. Renewable energy can be costly to set up and that is unfortunate. You can also grow your own food depending on where you live. While internet could be borrowed, you need the equipment. We certainly can live with less money if there is the will and as you said, the initial investment of money.

Ha, that is funny story about the man living in the tree. Our society is set up so that money is needed. Some may argue that a trade society is better, but.... that won't happen in the near future anytime. It's true. I probably won't be much without the incentive even though its small....

LOL I did marry a penniless man (but I had more than enough for two + a steady job, so it was OK, especially since I was very young and naive at the time). I read about cases like that, but most often, those who moved away from towns and the cities, were those who couldn't afford to pay for gas and electricity. They still received some sort of pensions from the government for grocery and other necessities.

I always say that people who say "Money isn't everything," are usually just telling a story. Very few people will turn down any amount of money if offered to them. At the end of the day, for better or for worse, we all need SOMETHING to get us to point B.

Nothing is wrong with having money - the problem is what some do to get it - and also how it is spent. If I had money in excess, I would help the needy.

@porwest I would vet very carefully who I help and in what way - the lazy won't get anything from me. Instead of giving a needy person a fish - you teach him or her how to fish.

@Kandae11 Always have to be careful about helping the needy. I too like to help where I can. But to me a handout is rarely ever helpful to anyone. The welfare system certainly proves that.

Firstly, the only reason I stay here on myLot is the people I've come to know here. I only reach payout about every four or five months! I've just finished reading a book by a woman who lot verythig because of her husband's mismanagement of money and how they both moved to a cabin in the Appalacians in the US and come to enjoy their new life without very much money.

There is no way I can live without money! I'm high maintenance and very materialistic, and the first to admit it. I use half my myLot money for charity, while the rest goes directly into a special savings account.
