This morning I took my daughter to the dermatologist. He, the nurse and I all agree how much clearer her skin looks. As I was getting into my van I hit myself in the head with my door
My son was miserable for a portion of school today after being off for Easter vacation. It always takes him time to adjust again.
My boyfriend had messaged me this morning asking if I wanted a free sun conure (a smaller parrot). You bet I did!
He gave me the girls number and I arranged to pick it up later on. My boyfriend asked if I wanted him to go with me. He stopped by after work with his dog and son while we waited for the girl to text me.
Around 6 she said she was home and we could come over. I didn’t realize how small this parrot was. It’s not much bigger then the parakeets I’ve had. It is so adorable. It makes a really high pitched but funny screech and laughs. It’s smart as it knows commands like step up and step down.
It went on my finger and liked me and gave me a kiss but it hated my boyfriend and wouldn’t let my daughter touch her either.
I’m hoping my two parrots with keep each other company and will help mine (An Amazon Blue Fronted Parrot” not squeak so much.
The photo is of my beautiful new bird!

@marguicha I know she is so gorgeous. She has prettier colors in person but in photos it isn't as true to color!

@LadyDuck today when I put my finger up to get her out of her cage she but my finger pretty bad and it bled. It stings! Lesson learned let her climb out of her cage on her own. They are more likely to bite when first getting used to a new person.

That's a very beautiful parrot, I wouldn't want an extremely large one.

@kobesbuddy I would love a macaw or cockatoo they are amazing I think but need a huge cage to have room to move around inside. This little one is only about the size of a parakeet. The Blue Fronted Amazon is twice the size of this conure.

@shaggin Our neighbor had a huge parrot in a little cage. It was so unfair:(

@Starmaiden I am sure this one will warm up to everyone once she gets used to us. My bigger parrot is much less friendly.

@bunnybon7 thank you. This one is 2 1/2 and it's life expectancy is 30 years. My other one is 5 and should live 80 years if I remember correctly.

@bunnybon7 not sure some just don’t live as long as others. I know the parakeets I had the life expectancy was 10 years only.

Beautiful bird but I understand they often out live their owners and they have personalities of their own. Enjoy.

@Freelanzer this ones Life expectancy is about 30 years the girl told me. Macaws live so long that is why she didn't get one as she her kids said they will not want it someday. My other parrot has a life expectancy if 80 years I believe.

@Freelanzer yes so unfortunately they usually wind up with a few different owners.

I hope your son does better soon.... and happy your daughter's skin is clearing up. I know when I was a teen I liked the "seabreeze" product (astringent) , and the "stridex" pads. Seemed to help with the acne, but then if you're at a dr's office for it - then I'm sure they have better products.
Cool new bird! I love it, it's so pretty! That's interesting how it likes certain people but not others, sounds like birds have personality too

@FayeHazel I used seabreeze, clearasil, stridex, noxema and more and nothing really helped me as a teen nor her so I am so glad to see results for her now after going to a dermatologist the past few months. The pills I took as a teen did nothing for me! They caused me to burn and get hives really bad from the sun.

@FayeHazel It’s called Solar Urticaria. Certain things like medicines I take make it worse. I get It in summer more but sometimes in winter to just as it goes from warm cold weather I’ll break out in hives.

@shaggin Oh wow, you tried a bunch of them. Sorry the pills were so toxic, hives from the sun? That's just sad. Oh! Lavendar oil! It's good for skin...

@shaggin Oh no! (From my childhood storybooks, all birds are supposed to be nice & harmless, vulnerable even. (Vultures & eagles, hawks etc don't count.) In reality, I found out geese are not something you want to tangle with
, so are a few types of cranes. I saw in youtube, quite a few people (farmers) got bitten by their own geese.

Does your new parrot knows how to mimic human language? It is so funny to hear them do that.

@MrsPumpkins the kind isn't a real clear talker? It said they mimic sounds more like telephones etc. It does giggle which is really funny!

@infatuatedbby My first parrot is a very ornery bird. This new one I think will adjust to us all a lot faster. Although she bit me bad this morning when I tried to get her out of her cage she seems much more friendly then our first parrot.
