All ready for new wardrobes

Tomorrow, if they have arrived, we’ll pick up our flatpack Ikea wardrobes in Bunbury. Today we took out the old built-ins which we put in ourselves when we first built the house. I forgot to take a photo until after we had removed one hanging rail.
There was a chest of drawers in the cubby hole each end of the unit. Opposite each chest of drawers is a doorway into the bedroom. The area would actually make a great nursery for a new baby but for us it will just be for clothes.
The length of the ‘dressing room’ if that’s what it is, is 4 metres and most of it will be taken up with the new units so it should be great. I’m looking forward to assembling them. I wonder how much hassle they’ll be?

IKEA stuff is usually pretty easy to assemble.

We put together an outdoor setting for my parents once (not Ikea) and had SOO much trouble with the very first chair. So we started on another one and it went together really easily. Turns out the first pack had doubled up the left hand arm-rest but hadn't put in a right-hand one so we were never going to get it right. Of course, being the first one, we never thought for a moment that it might not be us that was at fault.

We're sort of expecting that it might be a bit tricky but we've had a bit of experience now putting things together so we're hoping for the best.

Can't wait to see the new ones, although I must admit even your old one looks pretty good! Good luck putting your new wardrobes together! I've seen other things from IKEA that needed to be assemble, and sometimes that can be quite a challenge!

I felt a bit sad taking out the lovely white uprights. I thought we did pretty well building this although we had to strengthen one hanging rail gadget after it broke away in the middle of the night and scared us silly.
What is there served us very well but the new ones will look much better when/if we have to sell one day.

@JudyEv I had a closet hanging rail break loose in the middle of the night once when my wife and I moved into our first house. It scared us so bad we thought a burglar had broken into our house!

I like to make changes too but here I have little or no scope at all.

We're expecting them to take a while. Vin's sister got an Ikea man to assemble theirs and it took him all day. I'd expect him to be much quicker at it than us. We have five 75cm wardrobes to assemble then all the smaller components to attach so it will take probably a day or two. Vince might even have to miss golf!

I do too. It's been fun making a cupboard for the caravan too. I should have photos of that in a day or two.

If I haven't I'll just go to a clothes shop and ask for enough slacks to fill a metre!

We are sort of expecting a few little hassles but we like to think we've done stuff like this before and that we'll eventually get it assembled. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

For me putting together things comes natural, I reckon cause my dad could not and always had me do it

I'm sure we'll get there in the end but we're expecting to be scratching our heads from time to time.

What will become of this when you put in the new ones? In our place. We rarely change our closet. Happy assembling!

Hopefully we'll be able to use the timber for some other project. We haven't come up with one yet.
