Now you see me, now you don't

I’ve been talking about the new wardrobes we’ve purchased from Ikea. After a few delays in the delivery, which was free to our nearest big town so I won’t complain too much, most of it is now sitting under cover in the trailer. The rest as you can see is in the wardrobe space waiting for us to make a start on it soon. So today might be a light day as regards myLotting although we usually have our coffees at the computer. By this evening hopefully all these bits and pieces will morph into a couple of wardrobe units and we’ll still be talking to each other. Wish us luck.

We have two assembled and have stopped for lunch. We didn't get going as early as we should have. And the cabinets are relatively easy. The mirrored doors might be another story.

I hate putting things together. Good luck on getting it together. Be sure and show us a after picture.

We're taking a few photos as we go. We have two assembled but haven't put the mirrored doors on yet. I'm thinking they might be a bit tricky.

We won't finish them today but hopefully we might get them done by tomorrow evening. They have glass doors which look pretty tricky.

That sounds like a nightmare to me - neither my husband nor I are 'handy'. Good luck.

We have two of five units assembled but so far it's just the easy bits. I think the glass doors might try us out.

When we arrived here in NZ last month, my daughter also ordered online a DIY cabinet which my son-in-law assembled. Unfortunately, there was once piece of the "puzzle" that was missing and there was an extra piece of another part thus we could not assemble completely the alt drawer. My daughter emailed to seller and the missing part arrived in a few days. My wife and I used the cabinet for our clothes. We'll be flying home tomorrow and we hope the weather would be fine and that there will be no delay in our flight to Hongkong as there is only an hour and 15 minutes gap between our arrival and departure there.

No, these are going in our main bedroom. We took out the ones we made when we first built the house and I think these will be a big improvement. Here is a 'before' photo.

Wish you all the luck. My husband usually does all the assembling while I just wait. But normally we have workers to do those things.

@JudyEv surely, we just don't have the time to do it mostly and it's more convenient to get help from others and just pay them.

@toniganzon It all depends on your circumstances doesn't it? We have plenty of time at the moment and it's good for us to not have to pay out.

We thoguht we were missing the very basic bits that we needed to even make a start on it but then we found another little box of tricks at the very bottom of a long package. Two units up and three to go but then we have to tackle the mirrored doors. That might be waiting till tomorrow.

I hate jobs like that but at least it will be very satisfying to look at once it's done. Will there be much DIY involved or is it just a case of slotting them in? Actually looking at that picture it looks like a lot of work!

I think we've both become more patient with each other as we've gone along. And being older it seems to take the two of us to think of all the angles and puzzle out instructions etc.

I hope you're better than me when it comes to putting things together like that. I always end up putting a piece either upside down, or on the wrong side. It still works out, but well, that's me.

We read and reread the instructions and the first one went together well then we got a bit over-confident and made a couple of mistakes but were able to correct them quite easily. So we went back to being super-careful again.

Jay and I like to do projects like this one, together. One time we put a kitchen storage table together, a gift for my parents. It has wheels, so they could easily move it around. I can't wait to see your wardrobe, all completed!:)

Today's the day! (we hope). The mirrored doors have me a bit worried but Vince is sailing along blithely and I've learnt to trust him - although I keep a close eye on the instructions too! With luck, there will be 'after' photos this evening.
