Was it Something I Ate or Is a Stomach Flu Going Around?

Tuesday night I had to finish a book review for a blog post for Review This! due Wednesday. Fortunately, I had gotten it half done Monday night, including most image creation. I had also worked on taxes during part of the day.
I was barely able to finish the blog post before I was so tired I could hardly get ready for bed. I didn't feel well. I woke up at 3 am to go to the bathroom and I was so dizzy I could barely get there. I had to use a walker for support. I did make it back to bed but I was really weak.
I had to get up several times and I was always afraid I'd faint. Once my husband woke up ( I didn't want to wake him too early, since he hadn't slept well the night before) he watched over me when I had to get up and also brought me some hot tea and put my next medication dose beside me so I could take it without getting up.
It was scary. I haven't been sick to my stomach like this since I had a staph infection in 1970. I felt like I might have some sort of food poisoning, but the only thing I'd eaten that was unusual was some whole grain bread that had been in the freezer a long time. I don't know if that was the culprit, but I think I'll toss the rest of it. It didn't taste spoiled and I didn't see anything wrong with it except some freezer burn, but I tend not to eat things I ate just before getting sick unless they are things I eat often with no ill effects.
I stayed in bed almost all day and most of the evening last night and stayed away from the computer except for about fifteen minutes of blog promotion for the new post. I was stronger by bedtime, since I had chosen my food carefully and not eaten too much.
I was surprised to see that in spite of all I eliminated yesterday, my weight was up by a pound this morning. I had expected I would have lost some weight. My abdomen was still sore inside, so maybe it was inflamed and swollen. I wonder if that adds weight. 'Tis a mystery.
Anyway, today I've been better after a lot of sleep last night. I made another pot of soup, since after yesterday I was starting to run low on it in the freezer. I also cooked another batch of brown rice and froze most of it in small containers. So I must be pretty much back to normal. I still plan to go to bed earlier than usual tonight, since I believe I'm still healing.
The photo shows some of the kale I left in the bed where harvested today for one of my soup ingredients. All this kale is second generation from a volunteer plant that reseeded last year. Some of the seeds blew across the driveway, but there's no irrigation there. The rain brought this new crop, and I'm harvesting what I can use now before it dries up. I'm giving it a bit of water, and I'll probably transplant some of it into the irrigated beds, but I already have plenty of little seedlings there. I

Sounds like the stomach flu. I had a bout of it that sounded almost the same. It took about a full day to recover, then I was very careful what I ate. I threw out everything, like you, because I was afraid it was food poisoning.
The worst of it was that I had eaten some very good nitrate free uncured turkey bacon that tasted like the real thing. I hated to toss that!
Hope you continue to feel better.

I didn't throw out my fruit or frozen soups or the veggies I'd made salad with, since I use them often with no ill effects. It may not have been anything I ate. Could have just been an intestinal bug. But it's not one I want to repeat, which is why I'll toss the bread.

Yes, for sure, inflammation can add weight. More than you might expect. Hope you feel better soon.

Wow, that's a lot of kale, I haven't tasted that kind of vegetable yet. I hope your health problem would be resolved soon, do you have medication for this?

I think I'm going t drink lots of fluids, eat nothing but foods in their natural state, and hope it goes away. It's trying to come back again today.

I finally got the taxes printed out today. Now we're trying to juggle our bank accounts to pay them, since we also have a large medical bill do the day after. The payment and the estimated tax payment due the same day are much more than we expected -- about half a month's income.

What matters is you are better now but it would have been nice if you knew what was the reason you fell ill.

I still don't know, nor do I know if I'm completely well. I go up and down. Fortunately this afternoon and evening I've been more up than down.

I think it's some kind of inflammation. It was better yesterday, but not as good today. All I want to do is sit around, although I spent most of today on taxes and straightening out a check register.

It was most likely food poisoning. The flu comes with diarrhea as well as vomiting. Lets hope it isnt pneumonia.
