Please don't go!

Please don't go is what I felt like saying to my neighbor when I heard she was moving. My long time neighbor has put her house up for sale. She is one of the few remaining original residents in our area. Her husband passed away several years ago and I had thought she would move then but she stuck it out on her own. She said it is now time as the home is getting too difficult for her to manage alone and she is moving to a condo. I am worried about who will buy the house as she has been an awesome neighbor and friend since we moved into the area several years ago. Unfortunately, you can't choose your neighbors but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, that's such a shame that you'll lose such a good neighbor! I'm hoping the new ones will be just as nice.

I had this unrealistic hope that she would never leave so this news was hard to take.

@Freelanzer To be honest, I don't blame her for wanting a condo with less work and upkeep. I hope you can still stay in touch with her.

Many years ago when I first got married, we purchased a house in a brand-new neighborhood. It turns out that the real estate agent we fell in love with bought the house next to us on our right side, and the construction manager in charge of building the neighborhood bought the house on our left side. We all became fast friends and over the years it was like they were family. And funny thing, when I got a new job that required us to relocate to another part of the state, I was leery of telling our neighbors, but when I did they both also announced that they were moving too! They had also been afraid to say anything because they knew we had all been so close. It's a shame that good neighbors sometimes move, as it can make all the difference in the world in how much we love living in our neighborhood. I hope that you get some great new neighbors when she finally moves out!

@moffittjc Not too many potential buyers coming around so far so maybe, just maybe?

She sounded so apologetic when I talked to her and said the neighbor on her other side was also concerned she was leaving and about who would be moving in. Seems she was on a waiting list for a long time and it suddenly became available. But we have to be lucky we had so many good years - its almost like a break up but a friendly one.

Sorry she is moving. I hope she loves her condo and new neighborhood though. I wish we could pick our neighbors! We always get stuck with jerks slamming doors and cabinets, and smoking too much weed that we can smell it through the walls, etc.

That is what I fear, after years of peace and quiet we get some noisy rude persons. Of course the neighbor on the other side of us who is a jerk, but one is more than enough.

I knew it was going to happen yet it came as a surprise. I think I am selfish because I want her to stay but I understand that she has to move on.

People come and go and we cannot stop them from happening. We can only bless them and work on a good relationship with the new neighbour.

it's happening in our neighborhood, too. the small, simple one-story house in the middle of the lot has become a multistory apartment with no yard. there are also more and more small businesses here. it's becoming more commercial.

Yes she will be close but not the same as hopping next door to share coffee or a dinner.
