NOT Guilty!! ..

. This photo was taken after I got out of the 'maximum security jail' called marriage where I was awaiting to be sentenced to life imprisonment for inheriting the "original sin"... But then, I found myself 'NOT GUILTY'.. I put up with 9 1/2 years of emotional, spiritual, financial and verbal abuse under the watchful eyes of my "warder" (the ex-husband..) .. It was a miracle that I and my boys got out alive .. because I was being pushed to the corner where the only options I had was either to kill him or kill myself and take my children with me.. It gives me chills down my spine every time I am reminded of that past .. It is our genuine and pure intention in life that brings us out of desperate situation .. All we need to do is be aware of the endless possibilities that the Universe presents to us and grab the opportunity to get out ... There's so much to be grateful for.. I am giving myself permission to celebrate my freedom .. Celebrate my sons freedom to choose their own paths in life where they can flourish and contribute to the beauty of LIFE.. Celebrate every moment till my last breath .. What are you most grateful for and what do you celebrate every moment of your life?.. Bess .. I love this song by Anthony Warlow .. I have experienced "the greatest moment of them all" ... I will never forget.. And will be grateful for the rest of my life for that moment of freedom for myself and for my sons .. ..
Anthony Warlow singing "This is the Moment" live at the Main Event.

I left my marriage after two months - I absolutely refuse to put up with physical abuse.

I wanted to end the marriage right after I signed the contract, but it was like choosing to be with the family and sacrifice may whole life , or take a chance and see if there's light at the end of the tunnel .. You are so lucky @Kandae that you got out soon enough... I celebrate you! cheers!! .. .

@epiffanie It wasn't an easy decision. To escape him I had to leave a prestigious job in the diplomatic field - and face the surprise and malicious comments from those I thought were my friends.

I was there too. The day I thought of pulling my car in front of a semi truck to be free myself from the pain of abuse was the day I knew I had to leave. I never looked back.

@Happy2BeMe Yes indeed .. I took me almost ten years .. and it was like a miracle to have that tiny window of opportunity to escape .. I still know a few women who are is abusive relationships .. And no matter what I say to them, they won't be able to get out if their fear is much stronger than the will to be free..

@epiffanie I totally agree. Unless a person has been in that situation they really don't have any idea what it is truly like. It is easy for somebody to say just leave but it is much different when you find yourself living that life. It took me way too many years to leave but I did and I am thankful everyday I was able to get away, many are not that lucky.

You are a beauty, Bess. A striking one. I will always be grateful of my second life after being in an accident with my family many years ago. I am proud of you for being strong willed amidst all the trials that came your way.

@epiffanie You are always welcome, Bess. I am sorry for your lady friend. It must be devastating that her family did not survive. My dad would always say that we should be grateful for everyday. We should always see the strength within us because life teaches us to be tough but never forgetting to be passionate.

Life was not easy during my earlier days and I lacked direction and focus. I built my life brick by brick. I would say my plus was my sincerity, loyalty, and then hard work. I can understand your relief and the need to be grateful. I have also gone through the end of the road times but somehow they are behind me. I am happy for you. I cannot understand how people can be so cruel - siva

@epiffanie Bess, it is hard to tell what will happen in a marriage until you start living with them and it can be good or ti can be bad. I am so glad for you that you found someone that appreciates you. After my marriage I did not meet anyone that I really wanted to spend time with let alone marry and I really did not want to get married again after a disaster of a marriage I had.

You are beautiful strong woman, I am glad that you had the strengh to change your life. I am grateful for seeing my daughter running, she was born with a health problem in her legs, she went to 4 surgeries and had to be plastered for several months but now she only has the scars and everything is ok with her legs.

I don't know, the fact that we have a place to sleep at night, some food to eat every day, enough clothes to wear, mange to pay the bills so far etc.... that is good enough I guess to be grateful for in my case.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I can only say I got lucky and met the woman of my dreams. We have been together 13 years and married 11. We are as much in love today as we were the day we met. Maybe it is because we started later in life.

I think it helps when couples meet later in life because there's not much pressure of raising children and other responsibilities .. I am remarried now to a wonderful gentle man.. He was 53 years old and I was 45 when we got married and all our children were grown up.. I am glad to know that you are a happy couple .. There are so many unhappy people out there .. So stay in love and happy
