Even this one is already a Top Rated Discussion and a Hot Discussion.
In fact, every discussion everyone posts automatically becomes a Top Rated and a Hot Discussion.
As soon as every discussion is posted it goes to the top of the Most Recent Discussions list.
Meanwhile, as soon as every discussion is posted it goes to the bottom of the Top Rated and Hot Discussions lists.
Every. Discussion. Posted. Does. This.
So honestly, each and every one of you have had Top Rated and Hot Discussions.
Congratulations everybody!

Yep, they 'climb' the lists according to how many 'likes' they get for Top Rated and how many responses they get for 'Hot'

I don't let these things bother me. I post my discussion and let the members decide. I also don't let it go to my head if I've had some successes in that area.

I don't think @JolietJake was gloating, @Starmaiden. I think he wrote the headline to grab attention ("How is he doing it? Can I do it too?"), and wrote the post to explain how the site works. Now, if you ask me if he loves himself and thinks he's sexier than everyone else, I might respond very differently.

I never bother to check because I rate the success of my discussions on how many responses I get. I shall take a look the next time I post something though

@JolietJake That's interesting. I notice that sometimes I seem to have more responses than likes. I automatically like a discussion if I am about to post on it but I suppose everyone has their own way of doing things,

Everything posted has a 'shelf life' of 24 hours on those two lists, starting at the bottom and working their way up when receiving ''likes' and responses. Strangely enough (not that it has happened) a discussion can reach the top of Top Rated without a single response as long as it gets enough 'likes'.

They go there as soon as you post them, actually.

Right now this is a no response discussion.I found it in the no response discussion. It could become top rated or hot if you give it time and lots of people reply to it.

I never realized that, but it does make sense. I like to respond to those discussions, as they have very good content for the most part, and so many out there, that we never run out of discussions to respond to. I respond to more than I start, as I can't always think of a good topic of discussion, but when I do, I start maybe 2 a day if that. I do enjoy interacting though, as that is the crux of what mylot is about anyway, so lets all keep going and interacting and see where our discussions take us.
