Question of the Day- Car Recalls

Recently 1.4 million cars got recall notices for a possible defective steering wheel. Two cars of these 1.4 million cars had been involved in traffic accidents because the wheel came apart. So, recall letters went out to the other one million plus car owners to have their cars checked at the dealership. Kind of annoying that you have to schedule plans to have your car serviced through no fault of your own. Most times there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Have you ever had your car recalled for a possible manufacturer defect? I received a recall notice twice on the same car. Once for defective undercoating and another for passenger air bags. If you received a recall notice did you get it fixed or ignore it? Sources- NJ 101.5/google Photo- mybiginsurance.com

We never had a recall notice for our cars. Of course we would get the car fixed, in case of an incident the insurance would not cover if you do not go to fix.

Recall notices are important to heed, even if you're not having trouble. We had one recall for floor mats. lol

I've never received a recall notice, but I certainly wouldn't ignore one if I did. For example, all the models that were recalled because of potential airbag failures - those could be deadly.

Oh yes absolutely. I brought it in both times to have it checked out. Better to be on the side of safety and there is no charge for any repairs.

I haven't, but my parents have a Ford van that has had a recall once or twice. It's cool that there is no cost to the owner - but at the same time, its gas mileage and time out of the day to have it done. I wish they would include a small stipend or something on top of it.

Exactly! You are inconvenienced and lose a day if you must wait on the repair.

It's best not to ignore it, as it can save your life. I've never been part of a recall for anything.
