She Cannot Sew A Stitch!

Last night when I was at my sisters house I took the measurements for a small window so I can make her a new curtain, she told me nothing to wild as far as fabric pattern goes. I made the last ones, 10 years ago! and they look like hell now. I know my little sister was only ten when our mother passed away but my mother seemed to show me how to embroidery and do hemming stitches before the age of twelve, maybe she was to stubborn to learn? .... anyways she cannot sew a stitch, well that looks nice anyways. Once she had a guard job that was close to my house so she would stop by sometime, one day she got out of her car and all I seen was something white on her crisp, clean navy uniform. The pants had a problem and it was the zipper hiding part, she used white thread and stitches that were an inch long! I told her take those pants off! I got them hand stitched back together with navy blue thread and it looked as good as the machine job that had came apart. The reason for all the sewing in the middle of spring cleaning and garden planting is that Tony had 3 pair of shorts that had the seams coming undone, two in the crotch area and one pair on the inner thigh part. It did not take me 15 minutes to hand stitch those places back together. Why not use a machine? I do not have one but I learned how to hand sew many things, one was cutting and hemming my own pants, since I am only 5' tall. But my sister? Can`t sew a stitch that would stay. How about you? Can you sew by hand?

I would be quite lost without my sewing machine - and I can stitch by hand too but that would take up too much of my time.

I used to do many things. I sewed in my machine and by hand, I knitted and you name it! But now both my hands and eyes are a mess so I don´t do much. I even bought those needles made for blind people.

@andriaperry You don´t put the thread through a hole, but they have an open hole and you push the thread to the wider part of it.

I remember I sewed a dress for a project in school the most horrible thing that I did. It was a mess the moment I tried it on it burst out from my body. However, now that I am a mom I can sew rip shorts, pants maybe even rip eyebrows (joke)

I can mend by hand but for big projects I use to use a sewing machine, however I want to find an easier one then what hubby bought it has so many buttons and such it is a pain.

I sew by hand as well, I have a machine but it is just too much work to take it out and change the bobbin color etc, I would rather sew by hand.

I can't even sew a button on, even bought one of those gadgets that is supposed to make it easy, still no way. Anne started sewing when she was four years old, taught by her great grandmother. She has four machines with all that art quilting she does.

I learned to sew and do embroidery at a young age also. My mother loved to sew and taught me for which I'm very grateful. My mother's sister never learned to sew and couldn't mend even the easiest task.
