This evening I was washing dishes and Tony knocked on the door, I went to the door and he wanted a bag or pot for rose petals he collected from the rose bush, he said I might want them to sit around and make the house smell like roses.
I got the petals, washed and laid them to dry on a clean dish towel and left them while I went to work outside.
Late this evening I told Tony I am going to make rose jelly, he said "Cant that poison you?" No! it won`t.
First I made the rose water, its more concentrated and had vodka in it, its much like extract.
I am now seeping 3 cups of rose petals to make the jelly. I should get 4 half pints.
I have never made rose petal jelly or tasted it so this is a real treat for me.
Have you ever ate this jelly before?

@andriaperry Yes, definitely-you could sell to people quite easily, just out of curiosity I would buy some.

@andriaperry I have a few but most are just little. Guess I just need to hope the berries do good this year.

I have never had it.
I do like the smell of roses, and have used rose lotion, a rose scented air spray, and have considered getting rose water or rose hydrosol.

@andriaperry I bet it does. I wonder why Tony thought it would be poisonous.
Insecticides maybe?

I have never tried rose jelly before. I did have a rose flavored piece of Turkish Delight before, and I didn't care for it.

@andriaperry The candy I tried might have just been bad to begin with. It was imported and who knows how long the store had it on their shelves.

No, Tony picked the rose petals and I washed them and allowed them to dry. I put 1 cup petals to 2 cups water, simmered for 30 minutes, added 2 tablespoons vodka, that is how I made the rose water. Then I followed a recipe for the jelly, see it called for rose water so I made it first.

I've eaten it before, but have never made it. Is there a recipe that you like best?
I should do that the next time my other half brings me flowers from work (sometimes bouquets get tossed at the end of the night, and the employees can take them home, but since they're organic and fair trade roses, I know they'd be food safe).

Though I have not tasted the jelly but I use rose water. I have never made it at home but buy one. It is a good cleanser for skin and you can use them in home made face masks. In India, it is used to add up aroma to many sweets and biryanis
