I Conquered My Fear But. . ..

When we had our summer outbreak in a resort , last 25th , I was able to conquer one of my fear – sliding down the pool. My officemates, one by one, as you can see our heads in the pool , went up the slide to try it. I don’t like to, but because of the assurance of my officemates that I can do it, I tried it. When I finally slid down, they told me I was poised with my two legs closed unlike them with their legs spread . I remembered shouting just like them as I was sliding down. However, what I didn’t expect was for the water to go inside my nose as I fell down the water. Yes, I conquered my fear of sliding a pool, but I think I won’t try it again because of that. What about you, have you tried sliding down in a pool? How was it?

I guess you are right, don't try it if you don't know how to swim. You might panic sliding down and could get drown instead.

Next time, just hold your nose with your fingers. I hate water going up my nose. But good on you for sliding down.

Oh yes, I really should have done that. I will put that in mind so next time I can slide down again into the pool without getting scared of the water coming into the nose.

Yes I did several times and it was higher than the slides I can see in your photo. When it comes to water, I can try almost, just almost anything, not all of course. It's good to know you tried it. My mother-in-law is someone who has a lot of fear but she tried everything related to that and she was really glad she did. We only have that once in our lifetime and we don't lose anything in trying.

@SIMPLYD Yeah I can, but I don't like swimming in the pool. I prefer the sea with lots of underwater creatures. I love snorkelling and I could stay swimming in the sea for hours without a life vest.

I know you have tried even higher, Toni. You as I surmised as having a strong personality, can really do these things. And that means you can swim.

Yes, it's so nice after all. I thought it was scary, but it wasn't after all. What I don't like is when I reached the water and it went into my nose.

@Cristi_Ichim You will have to climb the stairs going to the top of that slide. Then from there, you will sit on the topmost of the slide and slide down.

If you know how to swim, you will not be scared to try it. I know how to swim the basic style so my fear is the height. When I was at the top of the slide, it's what made me scared alsi of falling down the slide.

When I was learning to swim my trainer just pushed me in the deep. I did survive but that did not help me become an expert.

Oh, my! That wasn't a nice thing to do to one who doesn't know how to swim yet. Even if you didn't become an expert, you learned how to swim. So, what was your reaction with what your trainer did?

I was surprised when they said I went down the slide with my legs still closed. I have to close them lest it will hit the sides if I open them since my legs are long and will surely hit the sides going down. That was why I see to it that they were closed. But I forgot the water that will go inside my nose once I hit the water.

Yes, when one doesn't know how to swim well, he better avoid the slide of a pool. But when the water isn't that deep and he can stand with the water, not past his mouth and his friends are there to catch him as he falls into the water, I think it is possible.

I was also so scared. My officemates assured me that there will be no harm since I know how to swim. Given the chance to do it, would you? It was really worth the try for me. But next time, as others here advised me, I should pinch my nose.

Thank you. Had it not for their persistence and encouragement, I won't ever try it. They assured me it will be okay, knowing that I know how to swim the basic and float. Yes, it is so fast though, especially that one I slid from was not that high.

Besides you will drop in the swimming pool. Unlike those extreme ones like zipline, where it is really dangerous should you fall.

It's fun to use the pool slide. Looking at the photo it seems to be at a reasonable height and not much twist and turns. Was it the height or the speed of acceleration that made you anxious?

Yes, it is just the reasonable height and not much of twists and turns. But it's scary while on top. It was actually both and the falling down into the water that made me scared. Now, some commented that I should have pinched my nose. Why didn't i think of that?

@josie_ You are right. So that's why they said I was still poised when I went down the water. Or maybe, I shut my mouth when I was nearing to fall down the water.

@SIMPLYD _Were you screaming coming down the slide? If that was the case then it's possible water when into your mouth first and as you close it you instinctively inhale through your nose while underwater.
