I Conquered My Fear But. . ..

When we had our summer outbreak in a resort , last 25th , I was able to conquer one of my fear – sliding down the pool.
My officemates, one by one, as you can see our heads in the pool , went up the slide to try it. I don’t like to, but because of the assurance of my officemates that I can do it, I tried it.
When I finally slid down, they told me I was poised with my two legs closed unlike them with their legs spread .
I remembered shouting just like them as I was sliding down.
However, what I didn’t expect was for the water to go inside my nose as I fell down the water.
Yes, I conquered my fear of sliding a pool, but I think I won’t try it again because of that.
What about you, have you tried sliding down in a pool? How was it?

Yes I did several times and it was higher than the slides I can see in your photo. When it comes to water, I can try almost, just almost anything, not all of course.
It's good to know you tried it. My mother-in-law is someone who has a lot of fear but she tried everything related to that and she was really glad she did. We only have that once in our lifetime and we don't lose anything in trying.

@SIMPLYD Yeah I can, but I don't like swimming in the pool. I prefer the sea with lots of underwater creatures. I love snorkelling and I could stay swimming in the sea for hours without a life vest.

I know you have tried even higher, Toni. You as I surmised as having a strong personality, can really do these things.
And that means you can swim.

@Cristi_Ichim You will have to climb the stairs going to the top of that slide. Then from there, you will sit on the topmost of the slide and slide down.

@SIMPLYD No, when I was your many, many decades ago, we did have time for such activities. Our summer destination was watching over our store :)

When I was learning to swim my trainer just pushed me in the deep. I did survive but that did not help me become an expert.

I was surprised when they said I went down the slide with my legs still closed.
I have to close them lest it will hit the sides if I open them since my legs are long and will surely hit the sides going down. That was why I see to it that they were closed.
But I forgot the water that will go inside my nose once I hit the water.

Yes, when one doesn't know how to swim well, he better avoid the slide of a pool. But when the water isn't that deep and he can stand with the water, not past his mouth and his friends are there to catch him as he falls into the water, I think it is possible.

I was also so scared. My officemates assured me that there will be no harm since I know how to swim.
Given the chance to do it, would you?
It was really worth the try for me. But next time, as others here advised me, I should pinch my nose.

Hi @SIMPLYD. I am so happy for you. And I am glad too because you have your friends by your side while you conquer your fear.
I have tried once and I was happy. it was fast as a bullet.

Thank you.
Had it not for their persistence and encouragement, I won't ever try it.
They assured me it will be okay, knowing that I know how to swim the basic and float.
Yes, it is so fast though, especially that one I slid from was not that high.

Yes, it is just the reasonable height and not much of twists and turns. But it's scary while on top.
It was actually both and the falling down into the water that made me scared. Now, some commented that I should have pinched my nose. Why didn't i think of that?

Good to hear that you tried conquering your fear. Yeah I did try sliding down the pool when I was in college.

@SIMPLYD I like it and the slide is not very long. If it's very very long ..then I'd be afraid too.
