How do you feel about promises?

I keep my promises but I don't promise lightly. I have to be sure I'll be able to keep my promise before I make it. And I also keep secrets. I never, ever divulge a secret.

Hey Felix! I'm back. I don't like making promises as I don't want to give false hope to people. I don't want to disappoint them. I like giving them surprises. When I use the expression 'it's a promise,' people knew that I only say it in jest or when we're just kidding around and having some silly conversation. But when it's something serious, I don't make promises. I just tell them I'll try to and I will try my best. I don't want to disappoint people as I don't want to be disappointed as well.

Promise is a bonding word!!! One lady told me i promised her a TV!!!! I didn't promise anything!!! I said I would get her a TV or see about it or something like that!! But not promise!!!! Big difference!!!! I try 2 say I will do something if I can!!!!

I don't make promises if i make i will keep it.it's hard to keep the promise in all situations...As promise is a trust one should not break it.

Did you make a promise you couldn't keep? I have no respect for people who don't keep their promises. I never make a promise I can't keep and that is why I never make promises. Not even a New Years resolution. I like to remain true to myself and others.

I think if all be possible to keep your promises, but sometimes life intervenes that can prevent it.

Yes, I keep my promises. Jesus said to let your Yes mean Yes and your No mean No, So I try not to make promises I may not be able to keep. If someone asks me if I can do something, I always say I will check and get back to them. I say no to lots of things when I am not certain I will feel like doing them when I’m very busy. It is not a good feeling when someone makes a promise and does not keep it. It makes me not really believe them the next time.

If I am not 100% that I can maintain a promise, I do not promise. I think it's very rude and impolite to promise easily and do not maintain. We already have politicians who do this all the time.

If I make a promise, I keep it. I don't really know if anyone hasn't kept their promise to me. I wouldn't be pleased if they broke one.

Well, I always do, but not sure if it is right... because I keep my promise even if it is not beneficial for me anymore. I will force a person to keep the promise he made to get what I need.

"Promises are made to be broken". this is what some people say, I admit sometimes I made promises and I didn't keep it.

Better not promise anything, if we are not completely sure we can keep it..

It's because of people who haven't kept their promises, that I always keep mine. I don't make a promise I know I can't keep.

@1hopefulman I think keeping promises is very important. If someone cannot do it then there has to be a good reason why not. I try to keep my promises.

Keeping promises, keeps your integrity intact. If you aren't able to keep it yourself, I believe you should either apologize for not keeping it, and make it up to them at another time; or if it is feasible, get someone else to keep the promise for you. Example: Years ago I had someone promise to pick me up to take me to a meeting, because at the time I did not have a car. Something came up, and they were not able to... So they asked someone else to pick me up instead. So even though she did not personally do what she said she would do, she still kept her promise, by getting someone else to fulfill it for her.

For me a word is a word when it's broken, I really can never trust again the same person.
