Do annoying people know they are annoying?

I know that there are some people who enjoy annoying other people for some morbid reason but do they really understand how annoying they actually are? Was just thinking about how I have been annoyed on purpose. One "friend" who I don't talk to anymore used to poke me when we were in high school. I asked nicely if she could please stop but she kept doing it to the point I actually snapped, yelled and swore at her. But that only drove her to laugh and do it more! Or my brother. He knows certain things bother me right now. Like certain sounds for example ( getting help for it soon but thinking I may have Misophonia which means hatred of sound ). I have had serious conversations explaining to him that I am dealing with this. That certain sounds such as gulping a drink loudly or chewing loudly makes my chest hurt, heart pound as well as feeling angry or wanting to cry. Yet for some reason, he will have times where he does the things I hate really loud on purpose and he thinks it's funny! I'm sorry, I can take a joke and I can laugh easily but I don't find it funny when people deliberately try to annoy others. I find it very morbid to push someone to the point of getting angry or crying. What is wrong with these sorts of people? Evil streak? Not understanding? What??

Some undoubtedly know. A few even boast about it as though it is something to be proud of

@arthurchappell So true! I don't see how it's something to be proud of but for some reason they seem to think so. I like to know why people are the way they are. I do understand that there are reasons behind what we do but some excuses are just not valid in my eyes.

There are annoying people who do not realize they are annoying. And that can be rather annoying.

I tend to think annoying people are unaware of most things, which is part of what makes them annoying. lol

Well, we have the same problem and I would say with the same sounds. My brother took a great pleasure making me angry reproducing those sounds. My father made him stop immediately, when he was there, my mom did not care to help.

@VivaLaDani13 You are right, there are times when enough is enough. I think that a mother should try to understand when there is a problem and intervene. Unfortunately my brother was the favorite of my mom.

@LadyDuck ah....I can't say I relate to that 100% but I can relate to a parent not helping where a parent should help. I'm so sorry. I can only imagine the feeling.

@LadyDuck I am so sorry you have dealt with these issues. Both being annoyed and not getting help from your mum. It really can be hard when people don't take you seriously when it's something that means a lot to you. I know it's a common thing for siblings to annoy each other but I feel there are times when enough is enough.

Is that any wonder that you have too much patience in you? You have had no other choice than to build your patience.

@Daljinder I've been off the meds for quite some time now. They wouldn't be in my system anymore. Even when I was on them they weren't controlling my anger except for maybe the first 2-3 weeks. I think I'm just naturally angry ( for now ) due to all the crap that has happened and happening. And also all the battles going on in my head. That makes me tired and angry alone.

@VivaLaDani13 Its not much surprising you know. One can only hold in for so much. When you release it you will again back to your patient self. And then there is the meds that you have been weaning off. So, It was bound to happen.

Hi Dani. I think they know that they are annoying but they just want to continue it because it gives them satisfaction. For sure some people have told them about it.

@mlgen1037 That is true. I do give people chances as I know that there are usually reasons behind someone's behaviour. But in saying that, if I ask someone to please stop or give them the hint that what they are doing is wrong but they continue then I stop making excuses for how they are. It gets a bit tiring letting people walk over me.

@mlgen1037 It kinda makes me want to learn more about these types of people. I wonder if it has anything to do with power trips? I mean there's usually a deep and meaningful reason behind what people do. Even annoying people.

@VivaLaDani13 It may be rooted to their personal struggles at home perhaps. But would it be justifiable if they are power trippers or being annoying because they have problems of their own? All people have their own struggles but not all are annoying.

I can relate to you, I was annoyed to my housemate Rojay today , he hid my tablet and even I was very angry to him already he never admitted that he was the one who hid it, I thought I lost it again.

@Jessabuma That's understandable. You were worried about losing something you owned and he just stood by and watched you freak out about it without telling you where it was.

@snowy22315 I think for some people that would be true but others actually thrive on annoying others because it makes them happy to make others miserable.

@VivaLaDani13 Actually they want reaction from us. They do annoying things to get attention and reaction. when i learnt this i couple of months ago, i avoided giving reaction and attention they were seeking. Initially it was difficult for them to take and they become more annoying but later things came in control.
