After midnight.

Mr. X was on a visit to a friend of his who lived in a large old house in another town. After dinner, it was quite late so Mr. X was invited to stay the night. It was sometime after midnight when lying in bed supposedly half asleep, he heard the angry voice of a woman quite close to his ear. Using expletives, she hissed at him - "get out of the bed you ---------." All Mr. X could see in the dark was a small vague form which seemed about to launch an attack! Quickly he grabbed a large towel from a rail near the bed and wrapped whatever it was tightly in it. Then he woke up - or did he? The next morning at breakfast he told his friend that he wasn't quite sure if the incident was a dream or real, but he had decided to sleep in the living room - and upon returning to the room in the morning, the unwrapped towel was lying on the bed. The friend seemed quite unperturbed. "Maybe it was no dream" he said calmly. "since I moved to this house 12 years ago, everyone who has slept in that room complained of weird happenings." So then, why did he offer that room to Mr. x ?. Do you believe in ghosts? Did you ever have a ghostly encounter - and do you think Mr.X was dreaming?

I had somewhat of an experience like that. I was staying at a rooming house and when I first arrived I was given a room to myself on the first level. I spent two weeks in that room until the house staff asked me if I would give up my room to someone who had broken her leg. (Her original room was in the basement/ downstairs level of the house) I agreed so I was moved to a small room in the basement. This room was dark and the air was heavy. I could feel it as soon as I entered it. Other people in the house have talked about how the house was haunted, but I had paid no attention to it...until I was moved to this room. I was in bed and not quite asleep when I "felt" a dark, evil presence slide up to me and grab me from behind. I struggled with it. I remember trying to bite it! My higher self stepped in and I heard "myself" saying; "I am in the presence of the Lord God Almighty! He will NOT let you do this to me!!" I declared this 3 times and it finally let me go and left....and so did I the very next morning! When I opened my eyes, my bedsheet was in my mouth and the blanket beside was shaped like a wrinkled human profile.

forgive me @Kandae11 for stepping into your disussion but I had to respond to what @Starmaiden just wrote. Woah that's just wow. Was it an older house? I wonder if the woman with the broken leg had felt this presence as well? Was it her room you ended up in or another in that same part of the house?

Wow!. That must have been very scary. I would hate to sleep in a basement room anyway.

I don't think it was a ghost at all but one of the bad spirits. I forget what they are called but they are women and they lure men. That could just be a type of folklore made up by the religious type though. Either way, whether it be ghost, bad spirit or dream - it was certainly real enough to him.

Yes it was real to him. By the way that is a true story told to me by someone I know.

@Kandae11 Oh I figured it was a true story. I think it must have been something. I do believe in ghosts and spirits as I've had my fair share of experience with them.

Yes, I believe in ghosts, that I would better define as "presences". May be he offers this room because he wants to see if all the guests have the same experience.

I did not wish to make the post too lengthy, but it seems the owner of the house had also experienced something unusual in that room. I just wonder why he took so long to decide to sell - Mr. X said he sold the house not too long after.

The owner of the house was naughty in giving that room to his friend if that was true, re: weird things had happened in that house for the last 12 yrs. BUT then again, it could have been some jokes intended for such friend by the same owner, 1. either as a payback, 2. just a simple joke or 3. such friend had always persistently been skeptical about the other world etc.

I actually spoke to the friend - he did not think his host had anything to do with it. In fact he told me that his friend sold the house soon after.

@Kandae11 (a good way to deal with the situation: selling the place to another naive byer !) I read lots about old houses like that (US), and most often, they had to bulldoze the building, then rebuild from scratch. Then again, there was a supermarket or something similar built from scratch like that, (from an old building which was famous for being haunted by a guy from the Civil war), he appeared again, wandering in the isles of that store later. They said he just wandering around, like he was minding his own business.

@Kandae11 I don't know about some countries, but in general, the real estate agents are bound by law to provide truthful answers if being asked by the buyers (re: the property is haunted or not, anyone got killed there or not etc). However, if the buyers do not ask, then the agents do not have to tell. It is the buyers's responsibilty to do research about the property they want to purchase. (It is a tough task, not end up with a lemon purchase.)

Yes, there are ghosts and some of them are quite angry! Thankfully, I have experienced only nice ghosts or indifferent ones.

@Kandae11 I don't know how he couldn't if others were noticing it just staying there. He lived there and so he should have experienced something in the house.Maybe he was just trying to get enough people to tell him its haunted.

I wonder if the owner himself experienced any of the weird happenings? Seems like Mr X's experience finally convinced him to sell the house.

I have no belief in ghosts but I don't want to be proved otherwise! One encounter I had about twenty years ago. I used to meet an elderly gentleman and I heard later that he passed away. One morning as I was on my way to the office I saw him ahead but suddenly he disappeared. Then only it dawned on me that he was no more! I cannot explain this - siva

Simple - you saw his ghost. Or perhaps your imagination is very vivid. I have never seen a ghost - they say not everyone has the abilitry to see them. However, I have felt a presence.

Yes, I believe in the existence of supernatural beings or "presences" as @LadyDuck has said. Now that was quite scary for Mr. X. I remember my nightmare from many years ago. I dreamt I was chased by this spirit with deep burning red eyes. He was running after me trying to possess me. I was fighting the spirit in my dream but I ended up being possessed and I saw myself clearly turned into something like this spirit. I saw my self with flaming red eyes. It feels very real though like someone is really over me, like a succubus of some sort. I woke up gasping for air and I cried. I was so afraid to sleep. For months, I won't sleep alone and always have the lights on. I wouldn't want to ever have nightmares again.

Hmm. Makes one wonder. But SOMETHING had to unwrap that towel, presumably. As for whether or not I believe in ghosts, I am bit torn on the issue. But I HAVE had a couple encounters that at least leaves open the mystery.
