If I Am On Holiday, Why Am I Behind?

I don't work in the summer. I don't have children at home. And yet, I am so busy that I can't keep up! We have spent more than two weeks traveling, camping, visiting family. And now we will be having several groups of people coming to visit us. I haven't even had time to do much mystery shopping which is usually my summer job. I have just done a few gas stations that we were driving past anyway. It all makes me wonder how people work at their jobs in the summertime. Today, I have to try to do laundry, vacuum, dust, tidy, the whole house, weed the garden, pick the beans and raspberries for sure, maybe beets as well. Then I need to find out if the wild Saskatoon Berries are still ripening or if they are finished. I may have to go to a U-pick and pay to pick them! Picking berries and washing them is time consuming! Tomorrow I need to plan menus and shop for all the guests we will be having. The next day I will have to start cooking! And there will be more beans to pick! Oh, and I forgot about the huge amount of parsley and basil ready to be used right now! How many ways can I use pesto? Not much time for sitting at the computer but I am certainly slimming down from all the activity and fresh produce! Hope everyone has a productive happy day!

@paigea I've always noticed when you're short on time, you get the most done.

@RubyHawk There are still lots and lots of mystery shops. But I mostly do places I am passing by anyway. I doubt if I will ever give it up completely.

@paigea We used to do mystery shopping before the bottom fell out and there were no more mystery shopper jobs left. We enjoyed doing it.

You are on holiday but you seem very very busy. I use pesto also on toasted bread (bruschetta), or I spread on a sheet of puff pastry, roll it and bake in the oven to make appetizers. Pesto is also pretty good on boiled white fish fillets (cod as an example).

@paigea I agree that a whole row is a lot, I am going to make a basil sorbet, it's refreshing in summer.

I need to get using it. I like having lots growing so it's always available when I want it. But a whole row in the garden is a lot!

@paigea I can be like this too. I retired this past January and seems I still am way too busy more than when I was working. I hope you get some time for your mystery shopping.

@noni1959 I am back subbing now. I have limited my mystery shopping to jobs I can find exactly on my way for personal reasons. Taking a break from treating it like a job.

@paigea I was a terrible procrastinator - or a very good one depending which way you looked at it. I used to pick three things to do and set a timer and just stuck in without thinking about it. Then pick three more. That was the plan. It helped a bit.

Now, I am back at work. The garden has been buried under snow! Yes snow! For much of fall. I still have carrots and beets in the garden. Hope to get a few out of the ground today before the 90 km winds hit at noon. I procrastinate a lot and get overwhelmed with how much there is to do.

Life has many distractions, and that's why I always feel behind. I mean, here I am MyLotting when I could probably be doing something way more productive. But it's fun, so what do I care?

I feel so guilty when I am not productive at least for a little while. Like today, I have not done much. So, next time I get busy, I will regret these days of not getting things done!

Wow- if you even get half that done you will be doing well. Plan a lasagna and some easy things like tacos and/or shepherds pie with salad plus BBqs! That always works and plan to get pizza or whatever a few times- that always helps!
