There's a wombat in the wall

Here is a feel-good story for you all. In Warrnambool, south-west Victoria, the railway bridge has a new decoration of a wombat appearing to emerge from a hole in the bridge. Artist Jimmi Buscombe is responsible for the drawing which was done in chalk and intended as a practice run for a piece which had been commissioned by the City Council.
Because it was done in chalk, Jimmi knew it could be easily removed. Passing motorists and local pedestrians really enjoyed the drawing so he left it on the brdige over the weekend. However he hadn’t bargained on the interference of Phil Hoy, a local resident and former graffiti removalist. He was so taken with the drawing that he donned overalls and a high-visibility jacket (so he would look ‘like someone important’) and gave the drawing three coats of automotive clear coat.
When Jimmi returned to wash away his work, he found it impossible to remove even when scrubbing it with acetone. Luckily the Council took it in the right spirit and the painting is now part of the Warrnambool landscape.
The link to the re-enacted event is:
A new piece of street art in south-west Victoria was supposed to last a day or two. That was until a local man decided that wasn't long enough.

@everwonderwhy He was very pleased with himself wasn't he? It was easy to rejoice with him.

@JudyEv He was funny and so sweet man. He was proud of himself preserving the artist, Jimmi Buscombe's work!

That is a nice "feel-good" story! But I have to ask, what exactly is a wombat? A giant rat or something?

@JudyEv Interestingly, I just read that marsupials are mainly found in Australia and the US. Pretty cool. But the US has nothing on Australia's marsupials! You're the king in that regard!

@moffiggjc @andriaperry They are a marsupial. I've posted about them now. The size of a small dog and built like a tank.

Amazing men in the story. I shared it with my family. I hope he could paint some more. And that there are more like Phils (who made the painting on the wall bridge permanent) in Australia. Lovely!

Yes, something like that. I don't where it was supposed to go. He said he just did a practice drawing on the bridge.

Neat animals should get more respect in this world. Last thing in the world that can save ourselves from ourselves. If we respect them, maybe we respect the world enough to where we do not destroy it so our leaders can look strong.

An interesting story !The former graffiti removalist joined with Artist Jimmi Buscombe to finish the drawing.

I feel sure it will. We'll be looking out for it if we go back that way one day.

It's well done isn't it? Did you watch the video? The guy who painted over the drawing is just such an Ocker, it's laughable.

It was probably going to become permanent in some form anyway.
