We were a little bit late leaving the house for my appointment, because hubby felt he needed to see his doctor as well. He let me out at my doctor's office. It turns out my lab tests with the nurse had been scheduled but no appointment with the doctor. I walked to where my husband was seeing his doctor. About 9 city blocks. He was just coming out.The doctor said he was not having another hernia, but a pulled muscle, as he first suspected. He is to apply heat, four times daily. We went to get gasoline. Then went to my sister's house. I was taking her some clothes. Hubby paid the car payment and the insurance. We went to Pizza Hut Buffet. We got a few things at the store and headed home. We were out of town, on the highway, and he got a phone call about a windshield repair. It was on our way home so he stopped. We always have a repair kit in the car. We came home, had naps, and homemade hamburgers, spread with guacamole. It was an okay day. I have to go back NEXT Wednesday to see the doctor.

That's odd, that the lab tests were scheduled but not one to see the doc. It usually is (or from what I can remember) that the labs are done and then you end up seeing the doctor about an hour later. I haven't had pizza hut in quite awhile, buffet or otherwise. Those hamburgers sound delicious. I opened a couple of cans of Lucky's Pinto beans with onions, made up some Jiffy Cornbread Mix and also some hashbrown o'briens. That was our supper for tonight. I'd actually like to get the dry pintos and make them "from scratch" but one person won't eat them if they are made that way. I am glad it wasn't a hernia.

This is a very small office, one doctor, two part time nurses. I was also questioning if I would continue after I was on Medicare, or change doctors. Sooooo I confused everyone and then changed the date. Originally it may have both been scheduled. I make my beans from scratch most of the time. Picky eaters!! This is the first I have been able to enjoy my pizza, since I have been having all this dental work.

@GardenGerty Are you going to keep your insurance now but also supplement with medicare? I guess the question is whether you like the doctor and if they accept medicare. It's my grandfather that's picky. He got it in his head that one time the beans were to blame for his stomach issues, and that they must be better if they are from a can and not "made from scratch." I prefer the made from scratch ones myself.

@GardenGerty It is just sad what our government does to us insurance wise, and especially to those who have to rely on medicaid and medicare. It sounds like Part B coverage might be a good idea. You mentioning metformin had me thinking of something. Both my grandfather and uncle took it. My uncle, I think, was put on something different or taken off of it completely. He is pre-diabeti. My grandfather had read something about it and decided to wean himself off of it. He doesn't believe in doctors, and I think that's part of the reason why I am not so keen on them either. I make him a cup of peppermint tea every day, as peppermint is supposed to help keep blood sugar at a decent level. I can't really make him eat healthy, but I do try to cook as healthy as I can. Of course, I don't cook every day because they don't want me to cook every day. They being my uncle and grandfather. I am rambling on myself. I do like the idea of what your doctor has set up. I know there are places like that around here as well.

Yes, I am glad it was not a hernia. He is complaining of something else this morning. I eat what I like but try to be moderate. All the extra yard work helps me. I am thinking I may be a little lower on the A1c.

My husband never knew he had the first one, until he had a pre employment physical. The second one was an emergency, the third was a repair on the first one. Ever since the cancer radiation treatments and the hormone shot hubby has had a lot of different issues in the area.

@LadyDuck Then it must not have been painful at first. That is how it was with Bob.

@GardenGerty I noticed the first of my husband, I noticed a bulge, it disappeared when he lay down. I called my brother (he is a doctor) explaining what I was seeing and he told me it was a hernia.
