There’s nothing like myLotting at a favorite restaurant over lunch. It’s time to have dessert and spring another “classic” film on you that everybody has seen....except me. Here’s another one of those movies that I’ve somehow managed to avoid seeing.
#4: Rocky
PLOT: guy runs around, says “Yo!” a lot, and gets the crap beat out of him. Also starring the Penguin.
So sue me. You can add Raging Bull to the list. In fact, I think the only boxing movie I’ve ever seen is Body and Soul.
I know it’s a “timeless story” about the “underdog” (no, not the one voiced by Wally Cox) and getting his love. Whoopie.
Add to the list any movie Sylvester Stallone has ever been in. I’m easy to please aren’t I?
Rocky
Directed by James G. Avildsen
Released in 1976

I know, as often as they show it on TV it’s hard to believe I’ve missed it, even by accident!1 person likes this

@JohnRoberts No. I have watched quite a number of Robert De Niro movies but not Raging Bull. Is it good?

The #4 is its position on the countdown. I never saw Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, or Rocky LVIII, or liked the song “Rocky” by Dickey Lee.

OMG! You mean you don't like seeing 2 guys beat the crap out of each other
Fortunately, both the "Raging Bull" and "Rocky' had backstories to them. If it was just completely about violence I could watch the MMA on TV. Have you never watched it on television? Perhaps out of interest because it won best picture? Yo, yo, yo say it isn't so Four Walls

The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg is a boxing movie with a backstory.

@JohnRoberts I did like that movie too. Wrong word choice for Rocky. Should of said just a great story! Micky Ward was also a great subject for a movie adaptation
Rocky's story- a two-bit bum club fighter who acquits himself very well against an opponent who totally outclasses him. (think Chuck Wepner vs Ali). The underdog angle throughout the movie plays well to most in the audience in my opinion, the academies, and many critics. Hard work, self-belief, and commitment are powerful factors in overcoming obstacles as the character Rocky proved. Those same qualities could also be said about Ward in The Fighter....

You are cinematically challenged and that's all there is to it. You are not the eye of the tiger.
