Blood levels

I'm trying to keep myself calm.
On Friday my mom had an oncology appointment. She's been NED for 2 years. (Ned = No Evidence of Disease = great)
Well, at the appointment everything went well, but not all of the levels had come back from the lab yet.
One of the blood levels came back from the lab on Saturday morning - and was raised slightly. For example, normal is 2.5 - and my mom's is 2.6 at the moment. It's a certain protein.
Well, all of the literature I've looked up said that anything under 3 is no cause for panic. Though this much I can say. Every time my mom's has been over UNDETECTABLE levels (eg. less than 0.1) it's been because of a tumor. Tumors mean operations and chemo.
There are also a few more reasons this level can be raised that aren't cancer. Such as infections. And my mom did have a bladder infection at the time, so...? Maybe that's a reason.
But it's hard to not worry. She's the nicest person I know and I don't want to fathom her going through more torment. She's had so many operations anyway that she has residual symptoms from them now.
Prayers, thoughts and good vibes are appreciated.

@1creekgirl That's true - I think sometimes we get caught up in thinking we can do it all ourselves - when we have the one true Higher Power on our side. I love the Vicki club.

Thank you so much for that. We all appreciate it. BTW - she shares your name, spelling and all. (Also my middle name). You're right. I must remember that God has this... and I must trust Him.

Prayers and good vibes to you and I'll include peace of mind as well. Sometimes the more we worry about things, the more they seem to come true, taunting us.

@FayeHazel Really hoping you'd get that peace of mind and hope you can try and get your mind distracted for awhile.

Thank you so much and for the thoughtful wish of peace of mind. Peace of mind is worth a lot and I think you have a point. There are books like "The Secret" where they speak of positive thinking.... maybe that is what I should do

@toniganzon Thanks! I'm feeling some better now - her oncologist did get back to me, confirmed that infection could make the level go up, and that the next step would be to get some images, the Dr. wanted her to have that, anyway.
I'm feeling some better. And appreciate your kindness :-D

@FayeHazel Such people make me very humble. I wouldn't be nearly so courageous.

@JudyEv Me either. Like I tell people, my mom is my hero. She told me yesterday to stop worrying. "I'm fine" she says.
I'd be freaking out. I'm still freaking out a little.
Thankfully her oncologist did get back to me - she confirmed that infection can make it higher.... so.... hopefully....

Thank you so much for the wishes.
You're right. It hurts so much to watch people who don't deserve anything go through suffering - and then they go through it with the best of attitudes ....

It's painful to see our mothers suffer. I pray and hope that all works out well for your mom in the days ahead.
