Laundry and Rain - At Home in Packers Country

I'm taking a well-deserved break. With the pool closed for cleaning, I'm able to spend more time on Thread of Evidence and get notifications done here. At least that's the plan. Yesterday, being Sunday, and not a day my son normally has off, I messaged him to find out when his day off was this week, so I could get laundry done. Yesterday, and Friday. Friday would be too late, I would be out of clothes. Yesterday was perfect, almost. If. Ever notice how big that tiny word is? If I had waited another five minutes and taken the clothes from the dryer and come home, I wouldn't have been caught in a deluge. However, that's not quite what happened. My grandson asked me if I would like to go to supper at The Golden Corral, an all you can eat buffet. Now, mind you, when I left the church, I had thoughts about going out to eat, instead of figuring out what to eat. However, I know the state of my checkbook before next week, and that wasn't an option. I did set out turkey legs to thaw and made up a great vegetable combination: summer squash, Bella sliced mushrooms and onions. My daughter gave me the summer squash, so it was huge, and I still have leftovers in the fridge, along with the two turkey legs, which I'll have for supper. With the option laying before me, I told my grandson, I would love to go to supper, his treat. He wanted steak, and I was his ride. Now, I knew there was the possibility of rain in the forecast. Being where I live, I don't pay too much attention to the forecast, because the rain usually goes above or below us, and rarely touches us. It touched us. As I said, the clothes were five minutes from coming out of the dryer when we left. It wasn't raining. It started lightning before we got to the restaurant. Still no rain. We went in, had a wonderful supper. I had two medium rare steaks, a large baked sweet potato, some fruit, and a large helping of seafood crab salad. Now that last item might not be on the Paleo diet, but all the ingredients are. I just don't know about the seafood dressing used. Man, it was delicious! We got outside the restaurant and the heavens opened up. I had a hard time seeing to drive. It was also later than I like to be out, as it was starting to get dark, without the rain. The rain made it really dark. With it coming down as hard as it was, I decided it would be best to bring the laundry home today. I waited until 11:30 before I left to go get it. It rained all morning. Now, I'm not complaining about the rain. We need it bad. Hopefully, it was enough to start to turn our grass green again. I did time it right, as the rain is done for today. Though, we have a seven-day forecast with rain every day. And I'm not complaining about that either. So, I've been working on my book since about 5 this morning, and just finished the chapter I was working on that whole time. It was only 25 pages, with 70 errors. I've now found all the errors, and I'm going to take a couple hours to interact with you and try to get the 200 notifications under control. I know this is long, but I haven't been here much, and I thought you might want to know how things are going. So, how are you doing? I will get to all the notifications, but I might not get completely caught up before I finish Thread of Evidence. I also talked to my son about the map, and that will be started soon. I will be publishing in September. By the way, I've had a running dialogue going on in my head the last several days. Thread of Evidence will have a sequel. That's my news. What's yours? Thanks for reading.

Sorry you had such a hard rain. We've had so much rain this summer that its' no surprise, Rain can start falling any minute and it's no surprise. We have had about a week with little rain. So that's good. Glad your book is going well. And you are ready to start another one. You have a good imagination. Good luck with all your writing.

The dialogue is still running in my head for the sequel. I don't know when I'll actually get it started, but I know it will. We had a lot of rain this week, which we needed very badly.

@just4him I admire anyone with a good imagination who can keep it together long enough to write a book.

Golden Corral is a popular place for a buffet. I don't like driving much when it's dark and pouring rain makes it even more complicated. Glad you got home okay after your dinner. Happy to hear that you're progressing nicely with your book and a sequel is on the back burner. I love books that have sequels.

@Marilynda1225 Nice to know it's nationwide, which I didn't know before the comments on here. It was good eating that night.

This sequel could take a couple years before it's complete. We'll see. I didn't know Golden Corral was a national chain. Yes, it was very good.

It makes me nervous to drive in the rain, especially when it is so dark and overcast. I used to love Golden Corral, but I haven't been in awhile.

It was the first time I was there since my parents were alive a few years ago for Easter. More than a few years.

I'm glad you decided to get the laundry out then. I haven't been to The Golden Corral in years. I would love to go again sometime, when the opportunity presents itself. You're doing great with the editing, and I love that you already have ideas for the sequel!

@just4him Why does it scare you? You're gonna do great. :) How late did you go?

@tammys85 It was 6 but with my cataracts, and the impending rain, it was darker than usual for that time of day. The rain didn't help driving home. Believe it or not, writing does tend to scare me. I'm so afraid what I write will be totally stupid and nobody will want to read it. It's only after I've let one of my stories sit for a while and go back to read it that I realize how good it really is. It doesn't sound like I wrote it when I know I did.

The idea of a sequel scares me just a little bit. But hey, I worry about stuff like that before I start writing, and then, hey, it's writing, and what's not to love. It was a good choice to go to dinner, but I'm not sure going so late was a good idea.

Sounds like an exciting day. Even with the rain you made things work out for you. I haven't been here much lately so I am way behind on your book and all. September is here and soon you will have another book on the market. I sure wish that I could sit down and write like you do. I just can't find the time right now. Maybe when winter gets here things will change for me. It has been a long time since I ate at Golden Corral. I love the many choices they have and I always manage to pig out. I like to get a huge variety of food.

@just4him That is so awesome. You can sure get your stories together fast. I understand about the diet. I don't think that I could stick to a diet anymore.

Thank you. It was a good day, and the food selections are good. Though with the diet I'm on, I need to be selective. Yes, my book will be out before the end of the month. I'm finished with the major edit and only waiting for the map from my son.

Mine is that I took my young friend to Guitar Center today and we both played piano. I am in the process of figuring out a Keith Jarrett tune, and I'm on the right track. It's actually by someone else, but I'm trying to figure out his arrangement.

Right now I am in the process of cooking a chuck roast on top of the stove that has been seared with onions and garlic. I jut added some carrots and shortly I will peel potatoes and add them. Along with a salad that will be dinner tonight. I got laundry in the dryer and need to go and get it out before the couple of pieces I don't want to wrinkle decide to

Not a lot of news, just a lot of waiting on our part. I need to go out and mow some more in the front at least. Labor day weekend we have a big blowout here in Florence, Ks. and although I may be gone, the empty field across from us sees a lot of action as they stage the parade there. If we do not get hubby taken care of and our plumbing taken care of though, we may stay in town.

Yes, and they've been hovering at or above 200 every day this week. I think today is the first day I've seen them under 200, but not by much.
