Using Hand sanitzers.

If our hands are dirty, it is advisable to wash the hands with soap and water and lots of us follow this practice. However, now a days, there is a new trend of using 'hand sanitizers' which even come in very small handy bottles and with different perfumes. I often use hand sanitizer to clean my hands, when it is not possible to immediately wash hands. I find it alright. How about you? Do you prefer using hand sanitzers to clean your hands? @arunima25 Himalaya for toothpaste, it is not bad. If we increase their market share, we will ensure that they do not become vulnerable to take overs. Savlon is from ITC so yes, I will be switching to it the next time.

You do the right thing, while travelling, sanitizer comes handy, if you are not near tap and soap.

@dpk262006 our train stations and railway stations have a long way to go in terms of hygiene. When i was travelling in the train few months back, the water wasnt coming in the wash basin outside.

There have been reports hand sanitizer is not good. Soap and water is better.

Where did you read the report and what was there in the report. I understand that sanitizers have acid in it and its excess use could cause problem for some people. Otherwise, also excess of everything is bad. I agree with you that soap and water are better substitute but when water/soap is not available, sanitizer comes handy.

@PatZAnthony May be while cleaning hands with a sanitizer, good bacteria are also killed. I think the same thing should happen, when we use soap and water to clean our hands.

I keep wet towels in the car to clean my hands, I use the sanitizer when I go inside a hospital or to see a doctor. The Hand Sanitizer is at clients disposal and clients are asked to use it.

It is a good idea to clean hands with wet towels. However, it does not always become possible. You are right that hand sanitizer is available generally at Doctor's clinic and could be used. Keeping a hand sanitizer handy also helps, when water is not available nearby.

@Mavic123456 Every product sold in the market has commercial aspect. It is slightly sticky but not beyond a limit. Don't you use anything which comes in plastic containers?

You are doing the right thing but you should be near water. Using wet tissues means that you need to carry them with you, when you are out, as you would carry sanitizer.

No just using anti-bacterial or herbal / ayurvedic stuff. No hand sanitizer yet. They probably are handy for those who are allergic, are germophobes or have sensitive skin etc.

Which herbal/ayurvedic stuff do you use to clean your hand? I do not think that hand sanitizers are used by those whose skin is sensitive, it could be used by anyone.

@ShifaLk I understand that sanitizers remove dirt and germs both from our hands, when applied. It comes handy when you are not near water/soap.

This discussion I started when there was no pandemic. I used to use hand sanitizer even then to keep my hands clean. Therefore, when Carona virus spread its wings, I had no problem using sanitizer to clean my hand. Today, everyone uses it invariably and carries it with him/her, like you do.

Yes, sanitizer should better be used, when we don't have quick access to water and soap. Water and soap are better than hand sanitizers.
