I have a lot of weird things that happen to me and I know for sure other people have had the same situations and we are just a bunch of poor unfortunate souls. But the one thing that I have yet to meet another person with the same problem has something to do with the shower. Some shower knobs are metal, we used to have metal ones for the longest time an that is when I found out I had this problem. After we had to get new pipes we also had to get new knobs and I was very happy because they were the plastic covered on with the metal in the back. But the weird thing that happens to me is that I get seriously shocked when I touch metal if the water is running. When I was little if I were to touch the knob to the water and the water was running I would get this shock so bad that my arm would go numb and it would be hard to deal with. There were points where I would not even take a shower for days because I didn't want to touch the knob. My mom just thought I was lazy and didn't believe me that the knob would shock me. Until one day I made her come into the bathroom with me and I was crying because it hurt so badly the shock and she finally believed me and she came up with the idea of using a jar opener and that helped a lot since it was rubber. I actually had to take that jar opener to friend's houses when I stayed the night because it any faucet had metal knobs it would shock me as well. Today even though we have the plastic covers I had that memory spark because of I accidentally reached too far back and felt that nasty shock. I know a water current can conduct electricity, but I had no idea you could get shocked by it, do you have this problem? Because I have yet to meet another person who gets shocked by knobs this badly.

It really sounds like something is not grounded well, which could be the case in both your house and your friends house. We lived in a trailer for a little while where we had this problem. And it freaked me out.

It happens to me whenever I go though. In the apartment I had in Wyoming I had the same problem. My mom doesn't get shocked, my grandma has metal knobs and she doesn't get shocked but I get shocked at her house.

@DesirousDreamer You might have a sensitivity to metal or the electric. But it's happened to me before.

You must be building up static electricity and discharging it through the water pipes which are grounded. Same thing happens to me with supermarket trolleys. Zap, ouch!

@DesirousDreamer It will if you are storing up the static. First chance it gets it will jump and give you belt. Get some antistatic shoes. Actually I've always felt the electricity between us.

Plastic covered knobs. Good idea. II don't think I've ever seen them. Haven't been shocked by knobs. Hmm.

There is something weird, if you got a shock there was an electric "dispersion" and this can be very dangerous. Of course I do not have this problem. Do you still have the problem? Have your pipes checked soon.

@DesirousDreamer This is very strange, I know nobody who encounters your problem.

It has nothing to do with the pipes. We had new pipes put in just a few years ago and it is still a problem. It happens to me wherever I go. I have stayed in hotels, been to other states, over at my grandma's and my father's house it there are metal knobs then I get shocked.

That is so odd, Felicia! Does it happen wherever you go? It sounds like a faulty wire somewhere.

Yes it does, no matter where I am. I was in Wyoming and it happened, it happened many years ago when I was in Maryland. It has nothing to do with wiring.

That has never happened to me with a shower knob but I get shocked when I open the car door. If I touch it lightly I get a shock but if I hold it fast it's okay. It doesn't shock anyone else.
