Decorating for the seasons / holidays

Seeing as we are nearing season change / the approaching holiday seasons - I thought I would ask if any of you decorate for the holidays and what you usually do? To a small extent, I do decorate for the holidays and seasons. I live in an apartment so I can't really decorate outside. I do put decorations on the outside of my door to my apartment. I make sure these items are inexpensive and fastened in a way that makes them difficult to come off. Unfortunately I think this keeps honest people, honest. I have wind chimes, wreathes, welcome signs and the like that I like to put up on the door. Inside I seasonally change my coffee table centerpiece, the items on my kitchen table, flowers in a wall pocket and one particular wall hanging area gets switched out seasonally too. Right now for me, it is "fall" with owls, artificial pumpkins and squash, warm colors. A few pieces will be added closer to Halloween and then taken away in November when a few pieces that focus on blessings for Thanksgiving will come out. The day after Thanksgiving or shortly thereafter I will put up Christmas. This is the most decorating I do. I have 2 small table top trees, along with my kitchen table, front door, and coffee table pieces . I also have a 1950s ceremic tree that lights up that I adore. About a week into January I take all that down - and my place seems very bare. I don't really decorate for Valentines, and only my front door really changes for St.Patrick's Day and Easter. After Easter up go my generically spring/summer things in the kitchen and on the coffee table. I have always thought people who put the effort to have "Halloween" and Christmas villages are awesome, but I have neither the desire or room to do so. What think you? When I was younger I decorated for every season, holiday, but I also had children around. It was my way of teaching. Now I do a little , I am so busy I sometimes let it slide. Plus the cleaning I have to have a clean house and sometimes that extra clutter makes it hard on me. But you are young! you enjoy and show the rest of us some holiday spirit!

I don't blame you. As I get older I dislike all the putting away of stuff, etc...

The most we do is our tree and window clings for christmas, though we have stockings up on the downstair walls year round. For valentines, st.pattys day, Easter, independence day, labor day, halloween and thanksgiving we just put up window clings.

@amadeo Oh yes, putting away is like a puzzle, never seems to go together right

That's alright too. Takes a lot of effort sometimes to put out all of the things

Halloween isn't popular here, I don't know anyone who decorates for it here and we don't have Thanksgiving as a holiday, though I think that is wonderful. So it is only for Christmas that we decorate and that is a small tree on a table top so that Daisy can't get to it and some fairy lights. I am amazed by houses that go all out to decorate.

@FayeHazel yes, we're in summer for Christmas. Alot of people go to the coast. I wouldn't mind experiencing a white Christmas infront of a fire place.

I only put large mums outside. Otherwise, I don't decorate my house. It would look gaudy to me if I did.

We usually only ever decorate for Christmas, though we don't go all out doing it. But I have seen some pretty elaborate and amazing displays, as we probably all have.

I agree, as much as I like the big displays, I don't envy the work

@FayeHazel Even Christmas decorating is a chore. But we usually do it. Well, I do most of it. But I can't really complain since when it comes to housework the wife takes care of most of that throughout the year.

I put out a few fall things and a little more at Christmas. Not as much as I used to, though.

Some of my decorations are up year round. I have some plastic squash and pumpkins, ears of corn, and ornaments in various places and a Christmas hanger near my door. I can't put anything on the outside of my apartment door, so everything needs to be inside. I will be bringing out my Christmas stuff soon. I like to decorate early.

I don't really decorate for any season but I think it is really lovely that you go to this trouble. A few Christmas decorations is about the most I do.

I should be organized like you, having boxes labelled with: Easter, Halloween, valentine, St Patrick, New Year, Christmas, etc. (as it is, I can't remember where everything goes... )
