So many choices these days..10-1-'18

There are so many choices for everything these days it boggles the mind I can remember it made life a bit simpler and happier when you could just set your VCR to tape something if you had to be away and have anticipation for coming home and just watching or just being there when it came on. and we only had 3 or 4 channels to choose from. Then HBO came along and opened the flood gates. When I go to watch television now it takes half an hour just to decide what I want to catch up on. I have ALL access CBS, Hulu, and Netflix, plus Youtube and many free channels thanks to my Roku. Most times I don't even watch Netflix but keep it because of 2 or 3 shows I love and can only get on it. Like right now Wentworth is back on but I only been catching up on it while my daughter is at work because there are things on there she likes to watch when she is home and you can only share with one other person without extra charge. one guest. I am the type of person that shares and am thoughtful of others. not like Clay that don't seem to care. Anyway, if she is home, I would knock her off if I try to watch and he is already watching in his room. and I don't want to do that. Then Hulu gives me a lot of shows from other channels I normally would not get without cable and I already pay too much for internet. Last week so many came back there I love. 911, Law and Order SVU, The Goldbergs, and this week a lot more is coming back. yicks.!! then All access has a lot and CBS is a biatch cause they make you pay but have all my favorites on it. I tried not to start Survivor but gave in last night. and if you don't watch tv, you have the same situation with food. what meat or veggies, or desert (dessert ?) you want etc. I love hamburgers and fries, spaghetti, and meatloaf meals. Unfortunately my only cooks are crazy about meals based around cube steak, or rice, or chicken not fried either. oh well. anything you miss right now about any of this?

I am happy to know you have many choices but it certainly does boggle the mind too Bonnie I know what you mean I only have YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. That is way enough omg Hope you are feeling okay? Happy Fall to you and family there.

I don't have cable, and we haven't had it in awhile. So that limits our choices for nightly watching. Although we own 500 dvds, and have Netflix and youtube. Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls and some of my favorite youtubers are usually my go to choices when nothing else excites me. I am going to try to watch a few episodes of Stranger Things later today.

@enlightenedpsych2 that is why i went to streaming from the internet through my Roku. i only pay for what i want to watch. although recently i found out that is coming up to 10 bucks more each year. so they get you any way you go pretty much

@enlightenedpsych2 yikes. you are talking about cable i bet. we had that kind of bill in AZ but at least i had one other person help pay it. now i am the only one paying here. 70 a month and it is very hard to afford on my fixed income

No it's not easy at all. I am torn between Manifest and New Amsterdam, I hate getting hooked on anything. Like I won't miss The Have and The Have Nots. If I had much more I couldn't stand it.

Mayabe roast beef and yorkshire pudding the most and mince pies but I have been without them for so long I don´t really miss them. We don´t have many channels as you have to pay for them and they never work anyway the big swiz of the telephone company is what I call it but never mind and I make do watching what I have got recorded for the moment. "Castle" is the one I can watch for a while and I miss "Law And Order" which is not on at the moment and all they are bombarding us with is that Series "The Good Doctor" which I don´t watch at all. Things were much easier back then yes indeed.

I can spend hours and hours just on Youtube itself. I can relate to what you are feeling. But the funny thing about me though is that even though I have so many unwatched movies and shows on my list, I sometimes get to a point where I watch the same things over and over again and even fall to the same type of shows. Once I get to be on a channel like Netflix or Youtube, a whole day won't be enough to satisfy me.

I moved to netflix. That way I don't have to bother about the choices. I can choose the TV show.

i hardly ever use my Netflix any more. since they never have anything recent unless it is their original and it is mostly just movies. i keep it for their originals like OITNB (orange is the new black) and Grace and Frankie .

I read your post and it feels like I've stepped into a Science Fiction novel. I don't participate in any of this. I'd go nuts figuring it out if I chose to. I use a DVD machine and play DVDs that I borrow from the library. That's it. Simple, huh? Once in a while I tap songs off You Tube.

We have alot of shows we watch, as you know lol. We mainly watch thru cable / ondemand, but also have netflix and wwe network. I do miss using the vcr to record though as most the time we have to wait til the next day to catch up on shows from not recording.

yes streaming on internet is like that too. you have to wait till next day to watch or even another day. i picture your home/family being a lot like mine growing up and when i raised my own kids. the tv was about always on except when everyone was in bed. i remember telling the kids to turn that tv off if no one was watching it ! many times. even that has changed since now we have a tv in our bedrooms.

@bunnybon7 yeah, almost all the time when we'd be home and awake. as we would watch while playing or coloring, etc. we still don't have tvs on when sleeping, even with them in the rooms.

Too many choices confuse us. And I feel the value of things have diminished due to abundance. I loved our earlier days with less choice and more joy.

I agree, I remember I would tape my morning cartoons on VHS tapes to rewatch. I never had the whole series but it was simpler knowing which episodes I did have recorded. Now I tend to just stick to one thing or another. I switch back and forth from Netflix to YouTube depending on my mood.

With so much television you would think there would be more quality shows. I mean there ARE quality shows, but still yet, with so many options you would think more would be good. Try Take Two, A Million Little Things, American Housewife, The Cool Kids, or Mom.

mom is one that just came back on that i think is hilarious. there are so many more i watch that i haven't tried any of those others you mentioned . The good doctor is another one i watched last year, just came back and Super store is coming back soon. those are both good.
