Years ago the hubby and I purchased a band new beautiful little percolator coffee maker. We were thrilled with the delicious coffee that it made. Believe it or not, we still have that same little percolator. It's a little batter and dented but we love it just the same. It still makes a hearty cup of coffee. We can't seem to let it go. It travels with us when we go camping and I am thinking that it always will. How amazing is it that this little item has worked perfectly for us for about 40 years or so and our new and improved coffee makers last a few years? I think it is an example of how our appliances used to be built to last. This little pot goes under the title 'oldie but goodie' in my opinion. What do you think?

I think the older coffee pots typically make better coffee.

Companies actually used to have pride in making durable long lasting products.

They did have more pride in their products. I still have a mixer that is older than my 33 year old daughter.

Great minds think alike. We use ours faithfully every time we go camping.

My parents had one just like it. I don't think I ever did. My parents took theirs camping too.

It makes a really good cup of coffee when you are out in the forest.

@HazySue That's because half the flavor comes from the outdoors and there is nothing better than that.

Oldie but goodie... I agree with that most of the item today is just disposable.

It seems they no longer take pride in their product.

@simplfred true, they are more concerned with the bottom line than with quality.

Oh dear, it’s a collector’s item and it’s pricey already.

That's exactly the pot my mom used to make coffee. I have it packed away somewhere as I consider it an heirloom . I'm sure my Keurig falls short when it comes to making a perked cup of coffee

A Keurig is a great little coffee maker. It's the best at making one cup at a time. You can't do that with my old pot.

If it still functions right, its worth keeping around. Old is gold

It still makes that good strong coffee that you need first thing in the morning.
