How do you jump-start yourself when you are feeling unmotivated?

Today is one of those days where I don't have to work anywhere on-site, but I do have stuff to do. Mainly, I have to grade papers for the college class I teach and also get some transparencies turned into handouts. Actually, that will take me to the College, but on my own schedule.
Trouble is, I'm having one of those mornings where my mojo just ain't working. I've left a few comment on MyLot posts, downed some coffee, and grazed for breakfast, but that's about it. OK, I just graded three papers. I think I'll do a few more, and maybe that will motivate me to get other stuff done.
I'll attach a photo of one of my young charges at the preschool last year. The song I was teaching him? "Got My Mojo Working." His mom thought that was pretty hilarious. We replaced "but just ain't working on you" with "gonna play with my friends all-day long."

Have a talk with yourself and convince yourself that you are a motivated person and don't want to hear any excuses.

@db20747 Are you like me in being good at making excuses as to why we don't feel like doing something?

How about me scaring ya? You could jump and start...Ok...seriously...nowadays the only time I ever feel really motivated is when dad is out of home. LOL. And by that I mean for really long time..like 8 hours..or so. Otherwise, it is dreadful. Anything I do, he will interfere. I buy 6 apples, he says no buy 12 he will give one more. No dad they are not of good quality...listen to me. Sigh.. today we will have this for breakfast, no...we should have that for breakfast. Boil milk in this, cook egg in this, keep glasses there...sometimes I feel bad he is bald. If he had hair, I would have pulled them all out..and got some perverted pleasure for it.

@vandana7 You better try to rent an appartment, When I was out of home for 3 months, I was less lazy, more motivated, I enjoyed being alone with no interference from my dad.

I do not know. I am now in a position where mostly I do not have to go anywhere any time.

I suggest you to find your own tools and method to overcome your problems. I sometimes just give up to laziness, sleep, do nothing, then my motivation comes again. Sometimes I just do stuff with no too much thinking, sometimes, I like trying new things. I think we just need a real goal to what we do. I mean why are we here on earth ? What are we supposed to do in our life ? Sometimes I feel there is no point in what I do because it doesn't have a purpose...
I sometimes do small stuff that interest me while doing the boring things I don't like to do...

When I'm feeling unmotivated, or just slightly down, I sometimes do mundane stuff like load the dishwasher or soak some t-shirts for future use. This morniing, I graded papers, a few at a time, and finally got to a point where I have only three left to grade. Time to celebrate by getting a burrito.

@TheHorse Nice, you found a balance between boring stuff to interesting stuff.
Can you please share what papers do you give grades to ?
Is that some paper work some students write ?
What is the paper work subject ?

@stringer321 We were covering Assertiveness in class. I challenged my students to reach out to strangers more than they usually do (not a common thing here in Northern California) and write about the reactions they got. They're short papers--only two pages long.

Just read some quotes from Brainy Quote to get my work done to the best of my ability even if I feel sore or listen to some music from Salsa to Rock Music.

Awww - that photo's too cute! Gray days will motivate me - but you know it doesn't happen that often here. I don't know if I actually have to jump start myself . . . if there's something that needs to get done, I just do it. It does help if I make a list of things I need to do each week and on what day . . . I am more apt to getting things done if I have it in writing.

cute picture. Yesterday I just wanted to sleep all day. I did some online work, and I listened to some music.

There are days when I feel the same way. I just take a hot coffee, sit down and write down what really needs to be done and push myself for that much for the day. I can take other things on to do list later.

All I just need to do is a cold bath and my body's going to be at its peak.
