I just thought it a bit funny. A few weeks ago, my pain management doctor started me on Hydrocodone and another medication to keep me from getting constipated. He laughed and said if you don't take it with that you would just end up full of sh.. (you know) then I got a sinus infection soon after that and had to beg my primary for antibiotic . Not sure why it is so hard to get. Anyway, knowing that that tends to give diarrhea, I got the bright idea I would not need the anti constipation med and a good thing too because I still ended up with diarrhea When I told my primary about this and said "you know I just thought it would level out !" she broke up with laughter. Again I know I have another infection but blood tests and urine samples came back that I am fine? Ever know something is worse and you know it's infection but doctor won't listen ? Hope you got a laugh out of my silly idea.

What a balance ! It sounds like it's so common that doctors can't find out exactly what is wrong . . . my dad is frustrated going through that with his doctor now.

@bunnybon7 I tell my dad that doctors don't know everything - the medical stuff isn't an exact science. And that makes finding the solution a bit difficult too. Meanwhile it's not easy for the patient to deal with the painful or odd things going on with their bodies. My dad is also frustrated with the wait times in between all the testing and appointments. Hope your tummy stuff gets better . . . does pumping up the fiber help any?

Hubby has been on a merry go round of infections for about six months now. I feel for you. Anytime they start him on antibiotics I give him good yogurt for the probiotics. I had problems for years with constipation after taking a lot of pain meds for foot surgery. You know what fixed it the best? Eating spinach. The pills, the laxatives, the stool softeners, lousy, did not work. Spinach works for me. I am sorry you have so much pain.

i love spinach. do you have a sprinkle of vinegar with yours? i forget sometimes that cabbage works for me. problem is, now i am the other way, so back to stopping it. seems a vicious circle now

I add spinach to my smoothies to get the health benefits from it without having to actually eat it everyday. I do love spinach though but don't want to eat it every single day.

Oh, some of those painkillers can be horribly hardening of the stool if you catch my drift. After my hernia surgery some years back I was given Percoset and it bound me up like nobody's business. I wound up taking a couple of ex-lax pills and drank a bottle of something else I can't think of the name of all of a sudden. It was the first time after the surgery I was able to get up out of the chair in less than five minutes, let me tell you.

that is why i hate them so much. i try not to take any unless i am having a really bad day. problem is with the diarrhea the antibiotic gave me , i very well could have done it in my sleep. just lucky it didn't happen.

Antibiotics almost always give me diaherrea so I eat yogurt or take an acidophilus. What did you need to take the hydrocone for? I believe that is a pain medicine.

@bunnybon7 He terrible My great grandmother had that and her fingers were are bent up and her knuckles were huge. I felt so sad for her. She was in a wheelchair but I'm not sure how old she was when she was confined to it.

Haven't met too many in the medical field who do listen. You are the only one living in your body, so you know better than they do what is up! Hope things get taken care of for you.

well i don't have now but i have indigestion all the time one way or the other. i am in fear of having H-pylori again and that is dangerous. it's a stomach infection and bacteria spreads. but my doctor seems clueless most of the time.
