Another option gone

Earlier last week we were in McPherson for Bob's appointment, which was during lunch time, or a little after. Not a good time of day for me, anyway. We get tired of sandwiches and such for meals. You know, fast food, burgers, etc. Too much bread and too many french fries. We were going to pop into our Dillons (Kroger) store and get salads at their salad bar. IT WAS GONE!!! A friend who worked there said it was taken out because it did not make a big enough profit. Another person says it is unsanitary and risks too much contamination. It appears that it is going to be corporate wide. I do remember the food poisoning scares all over the country this year, and I am sure that has something to do with it. Yet, I am sad. Going to the store salad bar was a fun way to pick up a unique fast lunch. It kept me out of the pizza buffet or the Chinese buffet. We have another 12:30 appointment there on Monday. I guess we will pack a lunch.

Talk about not safe. That describes some of those Chinese buffet places. Packing a lunch sounds like a sane idea.

If I go to buffets I like to see things getting replenished quickly and often.

@sallypup I am trying to break the buffet habit, but it is hard.

Food buffets are not safe, people do not take necessary precautions to avoid to contaminate food. I would not eat at a buffet.

We do so less now. As I think about it, I often feel bad afterwards, but I thought it was mainly from overeating.

@GardenGerty I avoided because of the fear to overeat. One day I have seen someone taking a piece of something using his fork and then using the same to get other food. That was the signal, never go to a buffet.

People really are afraid of getting sued. I guess the salad bar was a liability.

If I remember correctly not this chain, but some other stores were linked to outbreaks of e coli that was traced to food cut in store.

This is the first we have known of it, but I do not doubt it at all, and I can see why.
