The air here in the Bay Area is worse today

I was hoping the air quality would improve in the San Francisco Bay Area today. Yesterday, I took a very brief cycle, and my young neighbor friend joined me on his scooter. Today, the smell of wood smoke is heavy, and it is hard to breathe. I have stayed inside and graded some in-class assignments. I'm not sure if I will go out or not. I may go get a part I need to install in my Nissan Xterra. We shall see. I'll attach a photo of our Bay Bridge in better times. I'm tired of brownish-grey.

I went out to go to work. But I didn't do any strenuous outdoor exercise. Today, it is raining. Finally.

@cindiowens I am pretty happy. Howie and his girlfriend are displaced, but all but but one kitty survived.

I can imagine it could take a very long time for the air to clear substantially. I wonder how those with allergies/asthma are getting on.

I have "hay fever" and have had a "cold" for weeks. I've been gobbling Sudafed, but have been able to function 100%.

@JudyEv Probably so. I did see a lot of people (but well under half) wearing masks.

@TheHorse Not nice I'm sure and I guess there are dozens at least as badly affected if not more so.

We just went to Trader Joe's. The air stinks, but most people were not wearing masks.

@TheHorse - i would, its the microscopic particles that will get to you in a few years. its not just forest in the air, its houses and the things in them also that are in the air. pesticides, paint, drywall, tires, lots of stuff !

It will take awhile for all that to clear out.

I haven't checked containment lately on the fires to the North. How are things down there?

@CarolDM I was expecting rain yesterday afternoon. But it came late last night. It's still raining now.

@TheHorse Maybe you should wear a mask. Seems like the rain came a little late.

I recall the brownish-grey here a few years back. Not fun at all. Hope it blows through soon.

@TheHorse ......If you are the least bit sensitive to Bronchitis or such things you might wear a mask.

Thanks. Me too. I took some Sudafed. I can breathe OK. But the air does smell like smoke.
