When Do We Need Hearing Aids?

One day my wife was talking to me and I kept asking "What?"- My wife said: "You really need a hearing aid!" When people are talking to us and we have a hard time hearing and understanding what they are saying, it is time to consult a professional audiologist. An audiologist could tell us whether we need a pair of hearing aids or just to get rid of those chunks of earwax inside our ears. Last month I decided to consult an audiologist. He found out that I am suffering from severe hearing loss in my left ear and a moderate hearing loss on the other ear. He advised me to get a hearing aid for my left ear. Hearing aids are expensive. A good one costs $2,100.00! My next appointment to the audiologist is on Monday to get my semi-invisible hearing aid. I will be saying goodbye to my $2100.00. I will be broke!

@antonbunot This is a more serious problem than hearing loss due to the age.

In my case it is genetic. My late father had severe hearing loss on both ears.

We are going to the audiologist on Monday. I've already had my ears syringed ready for the big event. Hearing aids here are expensive too.

@antonbunot We are both getting a bit deaf so I don't know what the outcome will be. Hearing aid companies here are under investigation for charging too much.

@antonbunot Seriously! I had no idea that hearing aids were that expensive. I will try getting the wax out of my ears first and I hope that solves the problem.

Well I hope that it's just your hearing that is slowly deteriorating and not your memory. Do you still remember me? That question is at best by the way. Just want to know you don't have any memory loss problem. Kisses...

I still recognize my wife and know her name, so I am sure my sharp memory is still intact. L0L ..My late father and mother passed away in their 80’a and they never showed symptom of memory loss. My late father also had severe hearing loss on his right ear. So it is genetic. Rest assured I always recognize you even if you keep changing your profile name and pic. Your beauty and sweet-sounding name are kept in the innermost recesses of my heart; so, how could I ever forget you! And I will never stop longing to hug you tight and kiss you tenderly. Wink..wink. (What’s wrong with these emojis, they don’t register! They all come out as question mark.)

I think every one in our family needs a hearing aide because of our mis use of cotton buds.

I don’t use cotton buds or q-tips to get rid my ears of ear waxes. My ear waxes are like chips; they are naturally dried. Instead of q-tips I use a very tiny shovel-like ear-wax scrubber.Hehehe. My loss of hearing is genetic. I learned that limahong, the Chinese pirate (he iwas my great, great grandpa) suffered from severe hearing loss. LOL

That is expensive. When I had a vertigo 3 years ago, my doctor told me to undergo an hearing test. I had a mild hearing lost based on the test. I took polynerve as my supplement.

They're even more expensive in the US. A really good one is around $4,000. I don't understand why our insurance companies here won't pay anything on them.

They don't pay here either! I noticed my hearing on my left was gradually deteriorating when I was in my early 50's. I am now 63 and it got really worse. $4,000 for one hearing aid is really expensive compared to $2,100 here in Canada.

My boss has to use a hearing aid to hear whatever is spoken to him. When he doesn't want to hear anything he just removes the earpieces.
