A successful experiment!

It's "black Friday" and it's raining. A perfect day to stay inside. I read about 80 pages of "Fear," by Bob Woodward, played some guitar out on my balcony, and ate leftover turkey. Later, I decided to polish my Martin D-18 guitar, and in particular to see if I could reduce some microscopic (but visible) white lines that show between the binding and the wood. This is one of the most beautiful and best sounding Martins I've ever played, but the binding does not line up absolutely perfectly with the wood of the back and sides. So I decided to give it a go. I used Meguiar's #7 Mirror Glaze CAR polish and a new rag that I got at the dollar store (4 for $1.00). It had been recommended to me by Michael, co-subject of the Charlie et. al Kingdom of my previous post. The experiment was a success! I can still feel a slight "edge," but it is reduced, and I can no longer see any white between the two surfaces.

I'm glad your experiment worked. Our double bass has been borrowed for the evening by the young man who will play it tomorrow.

Where is he playing it? I practiced only guitar and piano today. Gave a free guitar lesson this evening as well.

@TheHorse There is a festival of sorts in Bunbury near us. It's nice to think the bass will be needed again for a night or two.

The guitar looks beautiful. Do you often play on it?

Oh, yes. This is my "cannon," my loudest guitar. So I use it for jams and also try to practice a bit most days. I'll attach a link, in case you want to hear it. The rhythm guitar on this song is my Collings OM-1, a smaller guitar. But the leads are played on the Martin discussed here.

@Nevena83 Me too! There's nothing I like better than the jingly jangly sound of a good acoustic guitar.

Awesome love the little stuff and know you may not like them but to me no one gets better tone than Social D Mike Ness yells at his band members if they do not meet the standard. Why I could never work for him, but it is pretty as hell. I get why he gets his reputation. He is not a nice man but think he is a fair man. Bet sounds awesome and if fans pay so much, bet you want someone like Mike Ness to make sure you getting what you paid for.

Heh. Don't get me started on bossy or egotistical band mates. I'll check out the tune.

@TheHorse I can imagine it's not something people would buy as they do for a pair of jeans or a smartphone.

Thank you, Anna. It took me years to find this guitar. I only buy a guitar when it really resonates with me, both aesthetically and musically.

Thanks! I like the "quilting" in the grain. Common in maple, but not in mahogany.

@TheHorse I am glad the experiment was a success. So Bob Woodward wrote another book. Isn't he the one that wrote about Watergate I think it was? What is Fear about?
