Phone is NOT compromised by a foreign country!

Now, in terms of scammers, I heard it all. My Mum, in her eighties rang to say she just put the phone down on someone saying, "We want to advise you your phone is compromised by a foreign country." She is getting very good at calling out scammers. Seems like you get to 80 and they see you coming, but my mum, having worked out that most of these calls are scams, calls their bluff. Not sure anyway, what use "Your Father is driving me nuts" is to any foreign country. Or descriptions of his bowel movements. (Mum is his carer and so I listen to that stuff to keep her sane as Dad is paraplegic, doubly incontinent and descending into dementia.) Our conversations are hardly going to compromise the country! Now, if my Nan, who worked for MI5 had been alive, it might have been a cause for concern.

We are also plagued by such calls here in New Zealand. You can tell them coming by the long silence between when you pick up the phone until the caller speaks. Your mother should thank the caller and proceed to inform them about your father's bowel movements and ask if they can fix it

@valmnz Vince told one once he was calling from India and he got very offended and said 'he was calling from Pakistan. This was after he first said he was calling from Australia.

My conversations wouldn't be a concern to a foreign country either. Thank you for a bit of humor this morning. I'm glad your mother is on top of those scam calls.

Mum got very wise after she got scammed, realised it and high tailed it to the bank and got the police involved and I think, her money back. Most of the time she cannot understand what the scammers are saying anyway, so she puts the phone down and rings me to tell me she just put the phone down. My day is punctuated by such calls...

It seems that Your Mum is still in possession of all her faculties in her eighties and isn't to be imposed upon.

Your mom seems to know very well what to do. Those scammers are more than annoying.

They seem to think old means daft. They have a force to reckon with in my Mum.

Funny that she calls their bluffs, your mom sounds pretty alert for her age.

She should put on her best "old lady" voice and play along with them. "Oh my! What Country is that, young man? Oh, I always was suspect of those pesky Greeks..."

We get those calls, too, but are wise to their scams. I'm impressed with your Nan's work at the M15!!!

I'm glad your Mum knows these people for what they are and doesn't get caught by them.
